• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Underglow lights - how are they attached to the frame?

The kits from Spyderpops include plastic sections that go along the frame to protect the LED strips and you can still jack up the bike. Generic LED kits are normally disposables and need to be redone if the bike must be serviced. Many do not even have connectors so that body panels can be...

Where is the Radio Module located on a 2013 STS

On an ST the radio module is behind the passenger above the fender liner. The wring harness is part of the radio kit, its not standard on the bike from the factory.

Tool question - Are the Spyders metric, standard, or a combination?

No, unfortunately that's not true. HD has use a mix of SAE and metric on bikes for years. As they use new fasteners they are replacing with metric but old part numbers are still used on many current models and are SAE. One of my pet peeves working on HD is you can never be sure. ALL Torx...

Maybe time for a new Battery?

The OEM Yuasa is about the best AGM battery you can buy. Part number is YTX24HL and is made in USA. Do not buy a chinese junk battery or you will just be replacing it soon.

    CloverCrawler is down!

So you will forgo riding on the chance that an accessory item is not in stock? Sorry but that makes little sense. Especially with the large aftermarket availability of parts. Life is to darn short. Buy the motorcycle.

Bad Key, not DESS Error - anyone else? Ideas?

The keys are not programmed. They are static and factory encoded. The bike is programmed to accept the key code. Also this error problem with the DESS module is well known a common in 2014 and newer Spyders.

Bad Key, not DESS Error - anyone else? Ideas?

Bad Key is the same error as DESS Error. It depends on which dash you have. The 2015 F3 being discussed in this thread has the older style monochrome LCD instrument cluster with very limited text display. It shows BAD KEY for the same error code that later versions and RTs with the color...

    GPS recommendations?

The Zumo XT is a significant improvement over previous gen Garmin units. MUCH faster processor for smooth interaction and quick response and a color display that is plainly readable in bright direct sun with no shields or hoods required. Its an amazing upgrade from older Garmin units and any...

All Spyders, both manual and automatic have 2 drain plugs. The manual does not have a transmission hydraulic control module filter.

    First oil change

Your first oil change was due long ago. It was at 3000 miles OR ONE YEAR which ever comes first. That 2018 is LONG overdue.

    Front Sprocket Again!!

BRP cannot revise required service intervals without compensating owners for the increased cost. The maintenance costs and service intervals are part of the advertised specs of the vehicle. If they revise the service interval, they would be on the hook for the service cost on existing bikes...

    Front Sprocket Again!!

The engine torque is not transmitted to the sprocket or belt via the bolt. The Bolt's sole purpose is to keep the sprocket from slipping off sideways. Higher bolt torque does NOT reduce wear on the straight splines. This is not a tapered spline so one has nothing to do with the other. The...

What size & thread type are 2021 Handle Bar Bolts?

There are NO SAE fastners on Spyders. None. All are metric. Unlike Harley that uses an infuriating mix of both.

21 F3S died while riding - Any Ideas?

Sure it will. If you get in the habit of leaving the trans in neutral when you shut down as you should. The bike will start with just a press of the button. No pedal necessary. Use this function in the service bay all the time.

    Whale, hail!

Suggest at better saddle on the F3. I never could get comfortable on the Ultimate as it just does not support properly for me and left me sore. Had a Russel Day Long saddle made to fit ME and its the best motorcycle seat I have ever owned. It truly lives up to its name.

Changing front sprocket - should the shaft spin?

It depends on if you have an SE or SM trans. The SE will not be engaged with the engine off, no matter the gear.

Suggest the Yokohama Advan Fleeva for great traction and wet weather grip. Life is not bad either.
