• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

No more going in frunk to turn phone back on after stops

I knew about the ports in the trunk, was not aware of any in the frunk. Where? .

Downshifts occur at very low rpm's

As already mentioned, the SEMI-automatic transmission will downshift when necessary to preserve itself. It has no idea what might be in your mind or on the road ahead, all it knows is "engine speed is too low, let's change gears". Yeah, the earlier v-twins needed to be kept at a higher RPM...

Looking for a Headlight modulator - any suggestions?

I understand that the Kisan unit works with LEDs, but have not verified it. Would like to find out and install one on my Suzuki. I have used modulators in the past on many bikes. Still have one on my Goldwing. If you have not ridden with one before, please learn how to use it COURTEOUSLY...

Any one had any success adding Rear Air Suspension to their std Spyder RT?

Peter, I am going to guess that you are the only one that rides your Spyder and you NEVER carry a passenger. My wife's and my gravitational attractions are sufficiently different that the suspension would need to be adjusted. And a LOT of adjustment would be needed if we rode together. We...

2019 RTL rear air bag PSI

Yes, your RTL should compensate for any weight and adjust itself to a preset height. With a button (on the switch panel on my wife's '17 RTS), you can select your preset height. I have never checked the pressure at different heights, so I don't know how your 12 psi compares. Not only is it...

    RT Exhaust Questions

Also keep in mind that "change" does not necessarily equal "upgrade". What is your ultimate goal? Are you looking for more power? More fuel economy? More noise? .

After advice/info on Towing a Spyder with REAR WHEEL raised on this hitch?

Some car tires are unidirectional too. :dontknow: Or you could swap sides. while towing in reverse. Besides the clearance issues mentioned above, what happens when you turn? OK, I looked at the listing and see that there is a pivot, so that should not be much of a problem, but I do question...

Thinking of buying a Time Out Camping Trailer - your experiences??

Never had the Time Out camper, but I did have their cargo trailer many, MANY years ago. Had friends that did have the camper, though. When we got to the campsite, they would get ready to set up their camper, we would unload our tent from the cargo trailer. Overall, the setup time was about...

Dumb question from first time Spyder owner

The biggest problem with that is that it is just like the other lights in that area, ... NOT VISIBLE IN DAYLIGHT. And you don't have to wait until you are low on fuel to see the light. Watch the gauges when you turn the key ON, it goes through a check of all the lights so you can see that...

The .... NEW ... Quatrac tire

I guess it might be a difference between "severe snow service rated" and what I have been told is a true "snow tire" or "winter tire". Snow tires don't do well in warm weather because of their compounds. I have never lived in an area where "winter tires" were mandatory, or even recommended...

The .... NEW ... Quatrac tire

I looked at the listing for the tire, it is "Severe Snow Service Rated". I'm guessing that the tread has something to do with that, but possibly also the compound. My question is whether the compound that makes it a good snow tire would work well in the heat of summer, when most Spyders get...

    Rear tires

Just about. There are several that are "favorites", not sure about Goodyear and Bridgestone. The General Altimax, Federal Formosa and Vredestein Quatrac 5 are the top runners, I believe. I put a Vred Q5 on my wife's RT. Wanted to make the speedo a little more accurate, so I went with a...

Wife getting too HOT 1/2 way thru long rides in the East Coast new heat!

All excellent suggestions. Personally, we use our chamois shirts (heavy, long-sleeve, tight-woven flannel). Wet them in a sink, squeeze some of the excess out, put on our mesh jackets and ride COOL for the next hour and a half. Don't do this if it's under 90 degrees, you'll freeze. Also good...

    Checking The Oil Level

Very nicely stated , but why does that third connection exist? Oil gets pumped through the engine, collects in the sump and gets pumped back to the reservoir. There should be no need to have oil bleed back to the sump, just to have it pumped back to the reservoir when you start the...

Practical difference between '19 and '20+

To answer your question about "practical differences", the newer RTs are about 4 inches longer. And, as others have mentioned the luggage is configured differently, as is the windshield area. Not sure how many of these differences are "practical", but I would guess that the older cover just...

2020 RT Limited - Rear Turn bulbs & LED Replacements!

I put LED turn signals in my wife's '17 RT-S. Probably a bit brighter than what you put in, they are advertised at 2800 lumens. Not sure if that is each or for the pair. Either way, they are BRIGHT. Click HERE to see the Amazon listing. Had some difficulty with hyper-flashing, but it might...

    Considering a trailer

I have pulled a few trailers for several thousand miles across the country with a few different bikes (all 2-wheeled). The idea of having the trailer hit obstacles that the tow vehicle cleared would be more important with 2 wheels, not so much with 3. Yes, your concern does have some merit...
