• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

My first impressions of the 2023 Spyder RTL

I usually raise the windshield when she's on the back. She doesn't describe it as buffeting, that was my term. Rather, she'll ask me if it's windy, because she feels the bike moving slightly from side to side. She's especially likely to ask if the road pavement isn't very good, and the front...

Deer collision - safer on a Spyder? Thoughts? Or first-hand accounts?

I think there's too many factors involved to say for sure. Logic would predict one advantage is three wheels, as well as the Spyder's greater mass, but hit a deer one day, and survive, doesn't predict that if you hit a deer another day you will also survive. The size of the deer, where you hit...

My first impressions of the 2023 Spyder RTL

I'll offer a different take on the issue. Besides some type of mechanical or riding style causes, I believe that what many new Spyder riders describe as twitching is simply the fact the any fine lateral movements translate directly into the bike moving in a lateral horizontal plane which...

When Only On Street Angled Parking is available, do you back in, or drive in?

Two wheels, always back in, Spyder, nose in.

What did you do to your Spyder today?

Put it to bed for the summer. Not a fan of riding in Arizona's triple digit temps, besides, we're heading off for a couple/three months of camping and traveling in our trailer. Riding season will be starting when we return.

Ever driven your Spyder onto a ferry?

https://dot.alaska.gov/amhs/policies.shtml Under motorcycles, it says the owner is responsible for carrying proper tiedowns. Like with so many rules and procedures, often the interpretation of a rule changes depending on who's enforcing it at the time. I can see some ferry workers understanding...

What did you do to your Spyder today?

Just installed a Sykik TPMS. Placed the little display on my left handlebar. I've used this brand on my motorhome and they work well. Biggest complaint people have, and I agree, is the vehicle and wheels are displayed in a fainter blue, which makes it difficult to read in bright light. For the...

    To Wenatchee and back.

That's a nice ride and it's nice you didn't get a lot of wind. The wind can really sail down those canyons. Had a couple white knuckle rides on two wheels crossing the bridge at Vantage. Lots of beautiful country on the East side.

What did you do to your Spyder today?

Put it to bed for the next 10 days while we're out of town.

See Something Amazing - Planetary Alignment from now until the end of Feb 2025!

Nope, not at all. The grand alignment of 1982 had all the planets within a 90 degree arc of the sky. I clearly remember some making predictions of huge earthquakes and the possibility of western states breaking loose and slipping into the ocean. Of course, nothing happened. While these planets...

See Something Amazing - Planetary Alignment from now until the end of Feb 2025!

Thanks for sharing this event. I'll add some info. For the vast majority of people, only three of the brightest planets are visible now, so it'll be less spectacular visually, than the description suggests. I like to call these kinds of events a "technical event" because visually, there's less...

What do you carry for Travel Snacks?

Now that I've recently joined the Type 2 diabeties club, my ride snack menu has changed a little bit. For years now I've not been much of a sweets person, but now that I'm doing much more label reading, I've been frustrated by the fact so many snack bars regardless of labeling, are a slightly...

How many States require a Motorcycle Endorsement for Spyders?

My Washington state motorcycle endorsement says on the back of my license: J-Two wheel motorcycle only. I know Arizona honors the Washington endorsement, but since both states now require a three wheel endorsement, I'm concerned my Washington license won't be valid for the Spyder. May be making...

How many States require a Motorcycle Endorsement for Spyders?

Washington State requires a three wheel specific endorsement. It didn't when I moved there from California in the 80s. My two wheel motorcycle endorsement doesn't count. My Spyder lives in Arizona which also requires a three wheel endorsement. So, I'm looking into the class to get an Arizona...

Your Weather News @ February Edition 2025

Temps here are just about perfect, not hot and not cold. Last month had some cooler temps but I think I only had the liner in my jacket for maybe two weeks. Supposed to hover around 70°F till Tuesday, when it pulls back into the upper 50's by week's end. We are at just under 3000 feet, so it...

What did you do to your Spyder today?

Had the original factory front tires removed and replaced with Vredsteins. The Factory front tires still had some tread left, but they couldn't be balanced to remove the handlebar shake above 40mph (not round?) The previous owner had already installed an Altimax on the back. I did a short test...

Does anyone leave the parking brake off during winter storage? And some rodent protection discussion...

Victor makes rat and mouse zappers, but there are other brands. I used a Victor and a Rat Zapper brand at work, but they all work the same. Peanut butter was my go-to bait in snap traps, but it's hard to load into a zapper that doesn't have a bait port, and cleaning it out is even harder, so I...

Does anyone leave the parking brake off during winter storage? And some rodent protection discussion...

To stay on topic to start, I've never considered if I should be leaving the parking brake on or off during storage. I've left my RV's parking brake on in storage for months, but rarely is my Spyder out of commission for that long here in Arizona. I see the logic of leaving it off to reduce...

Any Tips for removing clutch oil drain plug before hot oil shoots out?

I never change the oil in any of my vehicles when it's blistering hot, and haven't for many years. Not only does this prevent burnt fingers from hot oil, but other parts of the engine won't burn me either. My belief is, the benefit comes from simply doing regular maintenance. The difference...

After hearing so much hoopla, I finally tried Buc-ee's! Never Again!

It isn't just Buc-ee's, it's common to all gas stations, and here in Arizona, not only is it common to leave your vehicle at the pump while shopping, it also isn't uncommon to leave the vehicle running while unoccupied! At first I thought it was to keep the airconditioner going due to the...
