• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    2011 RT

Do the shock changes mean they have changed the preload springs or merely the shock valving? The inadaquate springs are not going to be solved by changing shock valving that will merely slow the wallowing and leaning down. Another cheap and quick fix? :gaah: Bill

    RT Windsheild Reflection Cure

When driving at night I get the light from the dash screen reflected onto the Windshield. It is annoying and I guess could be dangerous. Well last night on the way home I figured out by dumb luck how to stop it. I pulled the safety listing shield part way out and presto it was gone! It was so...

    Gas mileage a warranty issue?

I have about 2500 miles on the RT SE-5 now and I run the trike at 18 and 28 PSI front and rear tires, front preload springs are all the way up at 5 setting, rear spring is one knotch below the middle, and I go about 240 pounds. I almost always run regular grade gas as the computer should adjust...

Just got new RTS SE5 yestrday and we rock side to side on the road

This is to me not a motorcycle and does not remotely handle like one either. It is a trike and handles poorly no matter what I have done so far to anything on it. If you raise the preload on the front springs and tire pressures it helps the sub-70 MPH speeds but makes it suseptable to wind...

    Idea for venting heat

I'm with you on this one! I have been running in 90+ degree heat all summer but have never had any heat related issues? The reason I put a question mark there is I really don't know why? I find that by keeping my feet into the body of the RT I really am comfortable and cooler. If I move them...

    Gas mileage a warranty issue?

Ethanol has no benefits that I can percieve other than driving the cost of corn on the cob up over twice the previous costs were and making some farmers happy. Out west I hit areas that they had so much in the regular fuel the pipes turned white and I ran hot all the time because the computer...

    Elka FYI on springs

Just out of curiosity how much have we spent here to make a suspension that handles over the stock one that is supposed to be right? I mean shocks, springs, sway bar in front, and then a shock and spring for the rear. How much are we talking about here? Bill ;)

Go past 600 miles without changing oil?

BuRP oil is a semi or para-synthetic and probably better during early running than a full synthetic to make sure the rings and bearings are fully happy and seated. Running a full synthetic oil can actually not allow full bedding and sealing of an engine in early operation. Using a full sythetic...

    RT-S trailer hitch

That is basicaly what my dealer told me! I have not done it yet mainly because the mudflap on the tow hitch is a great signal for clearences to the ground getting close without hurting anything else. Only one thing I remember in addition to the dealers above information and that is something...

    Gas mileage a warranty issue?

Why wouldn't it still be their policy as they have introduced a trike getting less milage than their previous one with apparently no second thoughts? I shake to think what they will introduce next, maybe a 1200 pounder that gets single digit MPG? I find it extremely hard to figure why an 1100...

    gas cap issues

Yes I had the o-ring seal on it rip on something and destroy itself. The dealer took the dap off the older RS I was trading in and that has worked just fine since then. I did notice the one that destroyed itself never ratcheted like it was supposed to do. The o-ring seal did look like something...

    Exhaust pipe wrapping

I did just the pipe on the left side of the bike on my RS because it blistered my left leg on a long ride. I left the others alone. First off get the thinner (width wise thinner) heat wrap unless you are planning to take the pipes off the bike. That makes it much easier to work with although you...

Spyder RT & RTS Steering Tuning Tips

I did not comment even though I felt your comments were counter productive and maybe even dangerous until I saw you repeating your suggestions on other forums but after seeing them elsewhere I feel I must comment. First off anything that reduces the tire contact patch in anyway will not help...

Can RT, Garmin 660 and Telephone

Yeah Sure! I agree 100% but the likelyhood of this is miniscule to not existing! Look at their current track record! Which at best could be described as spotty and inconsistant to say the most about it. Bill :gaah:

Should I 'upgrade' from an SM5 GS to an SE5 RT A/C?

I traded my 2008 RS SE-5 with 11,000 for a 2010 RT-SE-5. I had troubles galore with the 2008 including getting dumped in limp mode with no dealer (and he had two weeks experience on the Spyder) within 125 miles on a cross country trip. It supposedly was the the third oil pressure sending unit I...

    25 MPG

Believe it or not with the summer I have been running with the windscreen all the way down and I am seeing a very miniscule improvement in gas mileage. I was wondering if the very small bolted on wind deflectors below there could be removed for the summer heat and maybe help comfort and reduce...

    Blinker/Signal switch

Me too! I will have to try the push twice deal and see how that works. I have tried as many as three times to cancel the signal and just managed to change the turn signal from side to side. I did notice that works to make people back off a bit!!! He He! Bill ;)

    Wayward Antenna

I tried blue Locktite on mine after finding it loosening several times and that didn't work for me so this time I switched over to red Locktite and after 3 trips so far so good. Seems to have little or no effect on radio reception too. Bill ;)
