• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Haven't been to the sight in a while.

Has anyone been able to make their wired headset (J&M or Can-Am) work with the GPS and their cell phone to make and receive calls through the headset and talk using the headset microphone. I am talking wired not wireless.

My dealer and mechanic have told me they don't work that way which seems odd but my system has never worked from day one to do that function.

Thanks in advance. Lonnie

I have not been able to get my Garmin to work through my J&M headset and i understand this is a known problem that BRP is not going to address, at least not now (Carlo told me this). I bought the units from BRP thinking they would work as advertised and they don't. BRP owes us a fix for this. They charge premium prices, but in this case, have not delivered.

If enough of us complain, maybe they'll respond. :gaah:

do you have the canam headset and the canam gps garmin ?

if so I read on one of the canam forums people got them to work with the canam harness for the GPS. I mean hear the garmin in the headsets

talked to Can-Am Support

Agent told me that the system is supposed to work through the helmet Can-Am headset if you have the Can-AM Garmin, and the entire comm/CB system and cables.:2thumbs: He escalated to a second level for the answer. They won't commit to anything for the J&M headsets.

So, they are supposed to work but we don't and the dealers apparently don't know how to fix the problem.:yikes:

If the Can-Am headsets are required they should have told us when we purchased the CB/Intercom and made it part of the package. My J&M sets have worked with Garmin on Goldwings, Victory and Harley's; why not Can-Am?

Yeah Sure! I agree 100% but the likelyhood of this is miniscule to not existing! Look at their current track record! Which at best could be described as spotty and inconsistant to say the most about it. Bill :gaah:

We recently received our CanAm Headsets and Mikes. We installed them on our existing helmets. We also use an older Garmin 478 GPS which with the Garmin 30 antenna receives XM Radio and XM weather. We plugged an FM transmitter into the external antenna outlet on the GPSmap 478 and viola::D we now get our music, routing, and weather on the CanAM FM radio. I also have my iPhone plugged into the trunk and IF I am listening to the iPod, I can hear the phone ring, but have no way to answer it. We would appreciate a solution here.

I just integrated my Zumo 550 into the OEM BRP system. The problem is in the basic design. The GPS Integration harness has an audio input only. There is no "Mic" connection, so if you bluetooth your phone to the GPS, all you can get is the audio out from the phone. There is no connection from the headset mic to the GPS. If anyone knows the pin-out of the 7 Pin DIN connection, it should be possible to cob something together.

My J&M headset works with my Garmin Zuma 550 GPS I had to get all the wiring setup (CB. Entertainment harness, GPS and harness) BUT NO Cell PHONE that has to be BLUE TOOTH.

Wondering out loud...

Not being an audio electronics person, I was wondering if the communication system on the Spyder could be explored by such an expert and a way devised to tap the iPhone into it. The result might be a product that would be in great demand among those of us, like Lonnie, who are seeking a way to fully integrate their cell phones. I can only hope...

Kennedy Cellset did it for the Goldwing. Seems reasonable that they may have one, or have one in the works for the RT. I just sent them an email. Maybe I'll have a response soon...

Great idea...

Just looked through the KC website and it certainly seems like this is their sweetspot. Hope they are encouraging.
