• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Rear pulley Group buy? Which manufacturer?

I would actually like a bigger rear pulley, and smaller front, to make first gear a little lower for city riding. Easier starts at the stop signs and lights.

Flipped it. In need of cosmetic repairs

You guys didn't read my post very well. I said the deadman switch's coiled lanyard clips to a ring on my belt. Raising a hand or lifting off of the seat does nothing to the switch. I have to be two or three feet away from the trikes before the switch activates. When I'm riding, then the coils in...

Flipped it. In need of cosmetic repairs

As I've mentioned on this forum before: I'm surprised they don't have a deadman switch and are not required to have one. As soon as a Spyder goes on a solo run through city streets and front yards, it will be on youtube and laws will appear :lecturef_smilie: Especially if the throttle sticks -...

    Loud gear whine?

I get that also but only sometimes when I'm backing up. It starts suddenly and can quit suddenly. I never get it going forward. It doesn't sound like anything good is happening, but so far no damage that I know of. :dontknow:

    I'll blame Lamonster!

My first desert ride, after removing the pans, was last week when I rode with Dudley. The temperature in the lower parts of the desert gotten into the low 90's. Whenever I was moving at a steady pace my temperature gauge showed three bars. That seems to be right where the thermostat opens. I've...

    Loud gear whine?

I have had my Spyder a little over a year now and I don't notice the whine anymore. Either I got used to it and "tune" it out, or the straight cut gears have worn in, or maybe it's because my oil has been over-full ever since I had the dealer do the 700 mile service. I will probably have the...

motor breaks down on slippery ground..

Because I ride mine at my desert place and the roads as well as my driveway are sandy and gravelly I have learned to begin backing up by slipping the clutch and accelerating very slowly. If the wheel slips at all in reverse the engine will shut off and have to be restarted. It was very...

    SpyderLovers.com, A great Community

Great photos, Dudley! Maybe those Harley riders liked us because I was wearing a Harley T-shirt that day. :D Good memories of meeting and riding with you both that day. We'll have to do some more! Yes you two and Lamonster are the only Spyder riders that I've met and riden with, so far. If all...

    Hindle pipe installation

Where is the best place to purchase the Hindle for the Spyder?

    rear tire valve stem

I'm in the same "boat" as you. Retired and busier than ever, but it's not "work". If you can do a ride next week it would be OK for me. It isn't that much extra effort on my part to trailer the Spyder down to my desert place. It just means I have to stay close to the 55mph limit (like 65mph) on...

    rear tire valve stem

Let me know when you're that way again. Dudley, I'll be in Canebrake all next week (April 20 to 25) but I may not trailer my Spyder out there this trip. If I knew for sure we could do a ride sometime during the week, I'd bring it with me. But if you're working on weekdays, then that just...

    HYDRAULIC HAND BREAK WORTH ADDING?

I posted photos and text on my installation which added to NEXUS thread about his installation, in the Shop Talk section. I don't think anything has been added to it in awhile so it will probably be back a few pages. Look for NEXUS first post on the subject and then scroll down. I used his...

    I'll blame Lamonster!

OK, I've removed the two splash pans, like Lamonster did, so I can have better engine cooling, while riding in the desert this summer. Now, if my engine falls out; :gaah: I'll blame Lamonster"! A question for the man himself; did you notice any difference in how much hot air hits your feet...

    HYDRAULIC HAND BREAK WORTH ADDING?

I love my hand brake ever since putting it on my Spyder! I mostly use the hand brake when riding in the city now. To hold the Spyder, while sitting at a light, I usually use the foot brake. In a quick stop situation I start with the hand brake while getting my foot on the foot brake, where I...

    rear tire valve stem

(/quote) I like the flexibility of the Spyder in being able to pull off unto a rutted trail, like the one at Carrizo Badlands and Canyon Sin Nombre on S2 out of Ocotillo. With all the cactus around there, we just feel more assured of completing our ride. And when pulling off the highway just...

Good idea to keep your mouth shut

I bought my first full face helmet after I got a bee buzzing around under the ear warmer on my half helmet. The guy riding behind me almost hit me when I slowed so fast to pull over on a sandy desert shoulder (on a two wheeler). Fortunately I didn't get stung but I bought the full face (lift up...

    fault codes display

This is such useful information that I printed it and put the page inside my owner's manual, so that it would always be readily accessible. Thanks go to you all! :2thumbs: Frank

    rear tire valve stem

Interesting that you comment about the cactus thorns. Have you actually had a cactus spine penetrate a tire? I ride frequently in the desert near my Canebrake place (on S-2, Eastern San Diego County) on both my Spyder, on dirt roads in Canebrake, and of course on & off road on my TWTrike...

    Motorcycles vs Spyder

My wife and I will be married 55 years next Nov. She will never get on a motorcycle but she's OK (maybe a little worried at times) with my riding. One time I asked her if I got a side car rig would she ride in it. She said; no way! I would say one of the reasons we have been together so long is...

    rear tire valve stem

I think you got it :congrats: I cuss them every time I need to check or inflate the rear tire :cus:
