• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

16th Annual Auburn Teddy Bear Run, February 9, 2014

Well, I have to take back most of the nasty things I was thinking about Motoplex. Their service guy simply needs to leave better voicemail messages. However, whether or not I will be able to do the Teddy Bear Run still depends on when parts come in, as I need to have the balancer shaft replaced...

16th Annual Auburn Teddy Bear Run, February 9, 2014

I have to admit, this latest development with Motoplex is beginning to make me wonder just how trustworthy they are. Problem is, it would *really* be a pain in the butt to have to take the bike to Clem's or Lifestyles, since I use it to ride to work every day. I'd hate to be stuck in the car for...

16th Annual Auburn Teddy Bear Run, February 9, 2014

Depends . . . Motoplex is trying to tell me that sometime in the last 4000 miles, Charlotte not only wore her rear brake pads down to metal and damaged the rotor, but also developed a leaking water pump and that the balancer is shot. So I may not be riding for a while, while I thrash out with...

    BRP Seat Gas Door RT

I'd like one just so that when we go camping and I have stuff bungied to the seat, I don't have to unload it all to fuel up. Hopefully, though, now that my wife has an FJR instead of her old Vulcan and can carry her share of the load, it won't be as much of an issue.

    ryding to work

Get a pinlock visor for your helmet and add an insert to it - that'll at least keep your main field of vision clear in all but the worst weather.

FYI on my RT's Top Speed

We were behind multiple slow vehicles on a rural section of highway out in Eastern WA when I finally had enough, and signaled to pull out to pass (you KNOW you are going slow when the HAY TRUCK behind you is passing you!). Realized I was up around 90, and my wife's Vulcan 500 was NOT going to...

    Insurance on 2014

Just did a quote on my GEICO policy - my 2012 RT is $379/year, replacing it with a 2014 would increase the Spyder's piece of the insurance to $490, for a $111 annual increase.

    2012 Top Case Leaking?

I don't see water in my top box, even after a heavy rain. Definitely sounds like a weatherstripping issue to me.

I'm Still Your Token Two-Wheeler, But I've Just Been Upgraded

Yes, since she has the new bike, we're almost certain to make the Toy Run this weekend.

    Olympia Toy Run

After my kitten peed on my riding pants, necessitating a wash, they aren't so waterproof anymore. Besides, after a decade in the Army, I decided that there are certain levels of miserable I just don't need to get near ever again, and cold and wet is one of 'em. Besides which, Lauren only has...

    Olympia Toy Run

We're conditional, depending on the weather. I'll ride in the cold, but not in the rain.

Playing with Our New GoPro Hero3 Black

It works fine if you aim it properly, and change the view from wide or medium to narrow. It just has to be aimed properly, which I obviously didn't do in the above video, being the first one I shot with the GoPro. I got the idea for the chest harness from someone else here on Spyderlovers, who...

I can't go without a Spyder any longer

It isn't time; it's money. During the changeover, bikes aren't coming off the line, and for plastic, at least, you are wasting material, as you have to run the machine completely out and then run some neutral material through it to make sure it's cleaned out. I would imagine the painting...

I can't go without a Spyder any longer

Not with plastic molding or painting. You do a full run of one color, then you have to flush the molding/painting equipment completely before you can switch to the next color to avoid contamination. It would be cost-prohibitive to do short runs of each color. JIT (Just-In-Time) manufacturing...

Does anyone know of a place to rent Spyders in the Seattle area ?

Lynnwood Motoplex is close to Seattle. Lifestyles Honda is over an hour's drive north. There's also I-90 Motorsports in Issaquah. I doubt Motoplex does rentals, though - they don't do loaner vehicles at all, so I would be surprised if they do rentals.

Spyder repairs complete and a shout out to my dealership!!!!

Yeah, I will say this for Lynnwood Motoplex, when I brought my Spyder in to have the shifting looked at, they told me that they had ordered a paddle shifter assembly when I called in to make my appointment (couldn't get in for two weeks because one of the Spyder techs was on vacation) so that if...

HERE IT IS! ROUTE TO OYSTER RUN

Yeah, I had a similar experience with Motoplex, recently, though with a happier ending than yours. I had an appointment to bring my bike in to have the shifting checked, as I'd started out for work one morning and found myself completely unable to shift. The problem seemed to have corrected...

    Spyder Sightings in WA

You: Black RT getting off of southbound I-405 at 160th St around 5:30 pm today. Me: Blue RT crossing over I-405 to go northbound. I waved, but you were watching traffic to turn right on red, so I don't think you saw me.

    Guest what?

It wasn't Elio, it was Lit Motors and the C-1 that was being "kickstarted" by someone who wasn't actually involved with Lit.

    Spyder Sightings in WA

You: Red RT, shortly after 1pm, on southbound I-405, just south of exit 7. Me: Blue RT on the northbound side. Sorry I didn't see you in time to wave!
