• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Where to buy a shop/service manual

I found a TechSpark CD shop manual for the RT on Amazon for $17. Has anyone here used it? I want to change my own rear tire and need the manual to be sure that I do it right. It's 170 miles round trip to the dealer and I would like to do my own work if I can.

    Ordered the Bajaron Swaybar today

I guess I'll try using the front forks on my backhoe to lift the spyder. Any suggestions on lift points? I've read some posts that point out a problem with incorrect drilling on the mounting blocks. Has that been resolved? BTW Joe, I completed jump school in July of 1961. It's really hot in...

    Ordered the Bajaron Swaybar today

I paid $288 with free shipping from a bike accessory shop. Value Accessories. It was substantially more from the Bajaron store on Ebay. Am I getting the real deal?

    Vee Rubber

I found the Kumho Ecsta AST 225/50 15 at Discount Tire for $81 with free shipping. I'm getting a belt tension gauge and bubble balancer so that I can change my own tires. I plan to put lots of miles on the Spyder and I don't want to spend $300+ and a 160 mile round trip to the dealer each...

Adding a pad to the seat.

Went to see a local upholsterer to see if he could make a seat pad to raise me up a bit. He cut out a 2" hi-density foam piece for me to try out and it made a huge improvement. Relaxed my leg position and I can now easily reach the brake. I take it back to him next week for him to cover and...

Making a brake pedal extension today.

After having a real close look at the available space I believe I can move the pad forward nearly 3" and that will be enough for me. But I do have to cut the existing pad mount off.

    Tire pressure important!

I was a little unhappy with the sway of my RTs until I checked and set my tire pressures. From the dealer...front 15 & 17, rear 24. Reset to 20 front and 30 rear. It's like a different bike. You would think the dealer would check this before delivery. Took me 4 days to check tho' Shame...

Making a brake pedal extension today.

I just had a good look at the brake lever and the mount for the pad will have to come off to extend the lever. Bummer! I was hoping to keep the lever unmodified. I will cut the pad mount off and keep the piece so that I can weld it back on if I need to. I will bolt the extension on. I'm a...

    Changing the rear tire.

I'm sure that the laser works well...but I spent a lot of years designing, building, aligning (and crashing) tube frame racing cars and it is amazing just how accurately you can align a car with just a ball of twine and a rule, AND a firm knowledge of how suspension geometry works.

Making a brake pedal extension today.

Gonna fab up an extension for the brake pedal out of 3/16" cold rolled. Wish I had some 4140 to build out of. I also wish I had one to copy instead of trying to re-invent the design. If I can get the pedal 3" further forward I think it will allow my broken and arthritic right leg to work the...

    Changing the rear tire.

My dealer estimated $300+ to buy, mount, balance and re-install the rear tire. I'm going to buy the shop manual for my 2014 RTs and that should tell me how to align and tension the belt. Balancing the wheel may be the main problem with doing a re-tire. When I was racing a 140 mph formula car...

    Adding a hand brake

The ISCI system looks good, but very pricy. If I can build a good cable actuated system that works well for a few hundred...I will do that. I am going to fab a pedal extension first and see how that works. Getting old with a beat-up body sucks...but it's what I have. Woops, too big on the...

    Adding a hand brake

My broken and repaired femur makes working the RT foot brake difficult. Adding a cable actuated hand brake looks like the solution. Does anyone know what parts to order to make up this system? I know that I will have to weld a pickup point to the foot brake lever. Thanks.
