• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

how much wind, is too much wind

Related to the wind, can I ask where you have the shocks and tire pressures set at? Dial up the shocks to setting 4 or 5 and make sure tire pressures are18-19 in the front, and you "should" feel a handling difference in the wind, more stable, more planted, and less buffeting. Took me some to...

Is this why you bought it?

Is this why?? NOPE!! Old...no, only 39 Good health Injuries...debatable Safety/stability...yep Different...absolutely Because I could...not one to care what others think! FUN...that's an understatement(I think we all agree on that one regardless of age) And finally....Because the WIFE WANTED...

Why did you buy Your spyder?

Because she wanted it, who was I to say no! The wife only wanted to consider trike configurations and we went to the Can Am dealer first. The rest is history.

    Wind

Why splurge for Elkas? Just dial up the ones you have to 4 or 5 and see if it helps some. Being that you're new, chance are dealer set up probably only has you at 3. A little extra preload and your problems might go away. Then after some more miles if you're still not comfortable, think...

    What's the real capacity

Its subtle Bob, just a little orange gas pump in the upper right by the tach, nothing like the rear cargo open in the center after your jumper fix, lol! Best I've had is 5.22 gal with the light on for about 10-15 miles, total distance was about 160mi.

    RT-S rear suspension noise

Had the rear shock replaced under warranty about a month ago, had the same "clank" sound. The tech who replaced mine said that he's done about a dozen. Got a 2012 version on there now, we'll see....

How hot is too hot for you or spydee?

125 degrees on the dash got me a check engine light, but that was after puttering around on a concrete parking lot during a MSF course for 4 hrs. Outside temp was 104 and the heat index was 110. Never limped, just check engine(suspected high intake air temp), but after some air flow riding...

    What's your front shock setting?

3 was too soft, 5 was too harsh....I settled on 4, not an exact science, but works for us.

lack of power and need for high rpm's

Good advice above about the rpms, you'll get used to it rather quickly. As far as the squirrelly nature, play with the tire pressures too. My front is set to 4 on the shocks and tire pressure at 18 psi. Some have reported on here that their pressure coming from the dealer was in the 13 range...

    OK, I may be slow.

I checked mine a little while ago and noticed I was about 12-14 oz low. All I saw was that milky white bottle and just the hint of shadow on the bottom after backlighting like said above. Stole the wife's turkey baster to add the fluid I was low. After that, shadowed up nice on the full line...

    Side air deflectors

Kinda wondering the same thing about windshield position. I always run mine in the lowest position, but was curious how much more drag is created with it all the way up, thus a potential drop in mileage. I'll keep an eye on things, need gas anyway!

THANKS BRP FOR THE SE5 tranmission.

I must agree, without it the wife would have never climbed behind the bars. Now she steals it every chance she gets...maybe we need a second :spyder2:!

    Hot Days-Check Engine Lights

The great folks on here helped me with this one recently. As I was told its a IAT fault(intake air temp). The default is 123-125 degrees so if it gets there, check engine comes on. Mine happened while we were taking the MSC on a 100 degree day driving around in 1st gear on a concrete parking...

    Side air deflectors

And they're off Just took them off of mine, any extra air will be welcomed in these +100 degree days we're having here(now 5 in a row). Man, it's HOT out here!!

    Hot

Rode early...not too bad Wife was off of work today and we got an early start this morning. We wanted to put the new rear shock and the updates to the test. Left the house when it was 81 @ 8am, not too bad but knew it was coming. Drove down into Quinland by the lake then decided to head for...

    New rear shock

Well, had the first mechanical fix on the:spyder2:. Noticed about 2 weeks ago, there was some "slap" on the rear. Standing on the passenger foot pegs and jumping up and down I could hear the shock bottoming out on rebound. Quick trip to the dealer confirmed it and parts were ordered. Just...

Frunk it When the wife beats me out of the house in the morning and steals the :spyder2:, her laptop goes in her Swiss gear backpack and sits nicely in the frunk, no issues.
