• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Ryker 600 vs 900?

600 or 900 I've never owned obviously a 600, 900, or 1330cc. But it has been my privilege to own (and still do), a 998cc. it may get to the point, where i'll have the 2012 Can Am Spyder RT-SE5 so decked out thatI won't want to trade up. -tom

    Need advice please

"Need Advice" I'm fighting lymphedema and metastatic unknown primary cancer, but I and the wife own a 2012 Can Am Spyder RTS. Whatever model you decide on, will always be a matter of personal choice. What do you intend doing with the machine? Short rides, rides across the state, or the...

    New to the Spyder Family

Helmet Choices A stepson of mine was riding his Yamaha 800 from his home in Hemet to his place of work in Riverside. He was clipped by what turned out to be a driver without a license, or insurance. Thrown about 30 feet, and suffered enough damage to his jaw that it had to be reconstructed. He...

    New BRP patents

Shaft Drive? I don't think there's anything wrong with an Aramid belt drive. Harley Davidson has had them for awhile now. They're quiet, never needs lubrication, and are less costly to replace than a shaft drive. I've had, five Honda Gold Wings since 1977, and the shaft drives have performed...

I should learn to stay out of Spyder dealers

New Spyder Purchase Did you stop in with the wife? :-) Or did you ryde home, and surprise her? Some wives are not overly impressed with large, unannounced purchases. And some are completely amenable, happy, and enthusiastic.

    Boy Scouts to admit girls

Many years ago, I joined the Cub Scouts, which was followed by the Webelos, the Boy Scouts, and finally, the Explorers. It was an all male fraternity of sorts which has done just fine, up until now. I've heard too, that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, has also now begun...

    Motorcycles don't wave back.

The Wave I have a 2012 Can Am Spyder RT-S. And in the past, five Gold Wings, and three Harleys. But I don't feel any less "cool" on a Spyder if there was ever a need to feel cool or macho. I might feel more superior riding a Spyder than any helmet less, black vested, or jacketed rider on a...

    Gas - I tried 93... going back to 87!

Octane Used or Preferred I believe the owner's manual calls for 87 octane as a minimum, and 91 octane recommended inside North America. I have to wonder what BRP would say about using non ethanol fuel?

Anyone sold their Spyder and regretted it

Nothing Like an Old Bike n I've enclosed a jpeg here of an older bike. I've had two of these, and as unsophisticated as they were, I'd surely take another one. They vibrated parts off, leaked oil, and easily overran the light from the headlight at night. Unlike the bikes today which can come...

Deep discount for a Spyder RT Chrome

Over pricing? Over pricing? Just a bit. I think someone, unintentionally added a "0" to the sale price. Even without the "0", I still think it's a little too costly.

    Replace headlight bulbs with LED?

LED Replacement I have a 2012 Can Am Spyder RT-SE5. It came with the standard halogen light bulbs, but I replaced them with LED bulbs. Made a world of difference.

    Alaska and the Dalton Highway

Alaska! I understand that numerous riders have traveled the highway, trikes and conventional motorcycles. That's an adventure, on most riders bucket list. I wonder though how practical it would be to take the ferry from Bellingham to Skagway, and do a bit of riding up there? Thus saving the...

Does it really take 300 miles?

Rydes At 65 years of age, it's been my pleasure to have been riding for 49 years. And have during those years have owned, and ridden, 16 two wheeled vehicles, from a 1957 Lambretta 150cc scooter, to a 2005 Harley Davidson FLHTCUI, with five Gold Wings intermixed. Now, its the pleasure of my...
