• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I'm still here, but not looking often

I got a; "where have you been" inquiry recently. I haven't been looking in on the forum much lately. There are so many people now in the forum that messages move down quickly so I haven't kept up. I still haven't even had the steering mod done on my Spyder #3003 done yet! :lecturef_smilie: Been...

USER NAMES/HANDLES - What does yours mean? Where did it come from?

I chose "trikester" because I had built two dual-sport trikes, with the double wheels in front, (one is in my avatar photo) before the Spyder appeared on the scene. I was about to design and build a highway only version (bigger, more power, etc) when I saw a pre-production article about the...

    Fan override switch ????

I saw mention of a fan override switch in one of the threads about trouble codes and batteries running down. I haven't visited this forum much lately and I haven't heard about this switch before. Is this something already on the Spyders that I was unaware of, or is this a switch people are...

    DPS..has it been fixed

I haven't looked in on this forum in awhile.:( I haven't had any of the steering recall work done on my Spyder yet (only 1900 miles in 1 1/2 years (too many bikes too little time). As far as I know (nothing to compare with) I don't have any steering problems (yet). From reading these posts I'm...

    Parking Brake Bulletin

Dudley's right! The day I went riding with Dudley and Jennifer he told me to spray all of the parts behind the lever with WD40. It's hard to believe, but it makes everything about the parking brake work great! It goes on easy and comes off easy - no ifs ands or buts - it just works! Do what...

    Another Spyder *Fire*

I've had my Spyder for 16 months but only have 1800 miles on it. I have been reading about gas smells for quite some time on this forum but never experienced it myself, until now. A couple of days ago, as I pulled up in front of my house, I caught a whiff of gas for the first time from my...

    Another steering issue...

If I'm remembering right, the problem with the steering, that people posted before the recall, also only happened when turning to the right and at speed. Sounds like the same problem, maybe the recall doesn't really solve it.:dontknow:

What Product do you want to see in the aftermarket for Spyder

Sorry, I haven't checked this thread in quite awhile. I made them swing "in the normal fashion" so they wouldn't bite my shins when I push the trike. Those two Yamaha conversion trikes I built don't have reverse, so I always need to push when backing up. I have been bitten a number of times...

    Rear Wheel Bearings

It might be different now, but years ago I decided not to use any bearings from China. This was based on my personal experience with poor quality and the short life of Chinese bearings. Because of their low cost it is very tempting for manufacturers to use them and let the customer change them...

Just ordered the Toyo Car Tire

I imagine that Tire Rack.com would have this tire. That is the source I used when I was searching for the tires that I put on the rear of my dual-sport Yamaha trike conversions. Since those trikes are homebuilts I needed to look through a lot of tire choices. Tire Rack.com had the most tires to...

    Username changed!!!!!

Welcome to your new name BumbleBee. That's a good one! I'll bet I couldn't have had "trikester" if I hadn't been very early in joining this forum. My user name fits me because I have three trikes, two of them built by me, before I bought my Spyder (all with two wheels in front). It's amazing...

    Steering recall, huh???

I'm glad to see the recent posting in the "General Discussion" section that BRP has announced a steering recall that should be available later this month (July).

    bar end problem

If you choose to blow compressed air through from the other end be sure to hang a rag over the end it will come out of, or you'll be searching the other side of your shop for the end. :lecturef_smilie:

    Keyless trunk opener

Yes and it works great. I was very happy that someone had already posted that technique, when I had to use that method, way out in the middle of the desert.
