• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Fuel Gauge & Miles to Empty Stuck - any ideas on fix?

My bet is still a stuck float. If you're on a trip, try driving over some bumps - it may free itself.

Weird happenings to RSS - VSS, DPS, Check Engine & Check Transmission messages flash on screen continually - any help, ideas, or clues on where to loo

With multiple faults like that I would check the battery and battery connections first. BUDS requires an adapter and a software license and is a bit pricey.

Annoyingly, my '21 RTL will only cancel Cruise by touching the brake pedal or downshifting - are there any other ways?

That would work, and not cause a fault any more than a tap on the brake (which I do all the time).

My first really, really close call on the Spyder

https://www.nhtsa.gov/sites/nhtsa.gov/files/811507.pdf "Having either illuminated lower auxiliary lamps (LA) or modulated high beam headlamp (MHB) on the motorcycle significantly reduced the probability of obtaining a short safety margin as compared to the baseline condition with an illuminated...

Will using a USB Data blocker between my phone/glove box USB only allow charging? Will apps such as iHeart Radio/Apple maps still work?

I worked in the firmare business my whole career. Manufacturers do take steps to secure firmware updates from being loaded with malicious code. Sure, there is a possibility, but I'd suggest its quite low. There are lots bigger targets out there than Spyders.

Will using a USB Data blocker between my phone/glove box USB only allow charging? Will apps such as iHeart Radio/Apple maps still work?

Not sure why you would need a data blocker on a Spyder. There's no internet connection on the Spyder's end, so nothing malicious is there to send to your phone.

    Sorry, BUT I'm OUT

Did you test or replace the Main relay 2 as I suggested? If you can't work on it yourself, maybe a friend could help.

Thoughts on Pedal Commander vs Pedal Box - & where's yours mounted?

It's easier than you might think. I made measurements on my Ryker with an oscilloscope. The blue line is the TAS, Throttle Accelerator Signal from the twist grip. The yellow line is the TPS, Throttle Position Signal from the butterfly in the throttle body. You could see I twisted the grip fully...

Thoughts on Pedal Commander vs Pedal Box - & where's yours mounted?

There's a misconception that these devices open the throttle quicker. They don't. They do change the sensitivity of the twist grip, so that you twist less to get the same throttle opening as you do stock. The throttle is a butterfly valve in the throttle body that is driven by a servo motor...

Having trouble wiring a Garmin XT, so should I just run it on its battery? If I do, will it still show traffic?

The black box is a 12V to 5V converter. From the manual: Receiving Traffic Data Using Your Smartphone Your device can receive subscription-free traffic data while connected to a smartphone running the Garmin Drive™ app. Connect your device to the Garmin Drive app (Pairing Your Phone and...

2014 RT won't start - “Mode button” doesn’t work. Any ideas, or where to start looking?

It's not that simple. The switches are wired to electronics in the switch housing to connect to the CAN bus. You could test switch continuity to the electronics, but since the Mode switch is not the only one that is unresponsive, it suggest the problem is not with the Mode switch itself, but in...

2014 RT won't start - “Mode button” doesn’t work. Any ideas, or where to start looking?

I got BUDS after I had the left turn wobble problem on my Ryker and a dealer charged me $170 to say it was "normal", even after I showed the service writer the service bulletin on this problem (he ignored it). I do as much of my own maintenance as possible. I subsequently installed the Steering...

Anyone installed the Refined Cycle BPE2 brake pedal extension to reposition the pedal on an RT??

The brake pedal was too high on my 2014 RSS. I have and like pegs. On every other motorcycle I have owned, if I rested my foot on the peg the ball of my foot was just above or right on the brake pedal, so I could brake without repositioning my foot. I made a mock up of the ideal pedal position...

Battery/Starting slow spin - is this common & why doesn't it start like a normal motorcycle?

More typically my starter runs 1-2 seconds. Since we're guessing at the charge rate, I'm going to guess that the Spyder charges at the recommended 2A at any kind of rpms at all. 10 minutes is more than enough to replace the charge from a nominal start.
