• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Any suggestions for a small/portable air pump that has a battery, can run off of the 12V on the bike, AND also has a standard plug if you wish to use it in the garage?

I would want to use it in the garage and charge it there, if possible...of course, if traveling, having the ability to charge it from a car battery is nice...you'd think a battery would last at least for pumping up a few tires?

I picked up an inflation gismo at the HD dealership in Chilliwack. It comprises a kit in a neat little pouch, that contains some CO2 cartridges, a gun that screws onto the tire valve, gummy worms, reaming and probing tools and cement. It's made by an outfit called Genuine Innovations and they call it the Ultraflate Plus. They say it's good for street, dirt or ATVs. They say it's good for several inflations and you can alwas carry extra cartridges. I have not had occasion to use it yet, but I did fit the gun up to the tires. Back tire a bit awkward, but it fits. I would be curious to know if anyone has tried this system in actual practice. I still plan to get Ride-On. Belt and suspenders for me. Cost was about $45 Canadian. Get caught on a lonely, rainy road without it, Priceless!

It would take a zillion cartidges to fill a Spyder tire, especially the rear. It takes more cartidges than are in a normal kit just to fill a motorcycle tire. I carry a half dozen on my RT, and that is barely enough to get 20-25 pounds into the tire to limp to the next compressor, less than half the normal inflation pressure.

I have used this type of inflation tool on my ATV. They work just fine. For the Spyder I would carry extra co2 cartridges.
 
How about just a portable inflator that I can use in the garage and take with me, if I need to (hope I never need to)...if it plugs into the wall and the bike, it can be used on the road or in a stationary environment...plus, if it has a battery, just charge and go...

Still can't find one that does all this....did email a few manufacturers...

According to the product literature, it takes 4, 16 gram cartridges to fill a 180/55 17 motorcycle tire to 32 psi. I notice that only 3 are supplied with the kit. The company also supplies 12, 25 and 45 gram cartridges to work with this device. The 45 gram cartridge apparently uses only 2 to bring the same tire up to 28 psi. I see that my Crossman air pistol uses 12 gram cartridges, so I guess I would need a lot of those.

As a correction to my last post, the 45 gram cartidge will not work with the Ulraflate Plus, it will accept up to 25 grams. Another inflator, the Monster Air Chuck, made by the same company, takes the 45.
 
At first I had asked myself a similar question about a pump. Then I started thinking about a patch kit (what kind, there are many out there), will the pump work fast enough to reseal the tire on the rim if needed, etc. Then I heard of Ride-On. After reading about it, talking to Lamont and calling Ride-On, I had some put in the tires. Since doing this in January, my tires have not lost any air. Ride-On claims that it will safely seal a hole up to 1/4 inch after you remove the penetrating object. Hopefully Ride-On will never have to prove itself, but if it does I feel confident it will prevail.
