• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. UPDATE- Bent Pin! Read below :opps:

I've taken a little break from the boards and phone calls. I see it was another exciting weekend once again.:lecturef_smilie:

I guess it was Thursday my Spyder died on me at the house.:sour: I can't say for sure what it is yet until I get it loaded on a trailer and get it on the BUDS at Alcoa Goodtimes. I talked with a BRP tech and we checked everything I could check here at the house but no luck getting it to fire up.:gaah:

I guess the good news is it didn't happen on my trip out west. I have just over 28,000 miles on her now and this is the first time that it died completely. I hope it will be a quick fix. Talking with Magic Man he seems to think my cluster went bad. I may try one more thing before I take it down just for trouble shooting purposes. Just my luck. :helpsmilie:

Does the bad dash stop your Spyder from running? dltang's bad dash never left her stranded. I can't recall if it actually put her into limp mode or not but she did ride it to the dealer. :dontknow: Have you tried swapping your dash out with the one from your parts Spyder? (BajaRon's Spyder)

I will not crank. I may see if I can swap the cluster with Ron today to see if the codes go away but it still won't start because the keys have to match the cluster.

Hey Lamonster:

That"s the same thing I had at 6000 miles. The replaced the angle sensor but the eventual fix was the Command Module. Stay on top of it took me 3 weeks to get mine back. Good luck Bro :gaah:

I just happened to be at our local dealer on Thursday when another Spyder with these same symptoms was being pushed into the shop.

It had the same messages and 0 degrees temp reading as well on the dash. The tech was on the phone with BRP when they hooked it up to the BUDS. He was told to go get a dash out of their demo and plug it in. As soon as he did it had the correct temp reading and no other warning messages. After downloading the key code into it it fired right up.

When I was talking to Lamonster that afternoon I told him what I had seen that day. Later that night Lamonster called me and said his dash was doing the same things and his Spyder would not crank over. At first I thought he was joking around, but he was dead serious.

I don't know why I happened to be there at just that moment in time to see this problem and it's fix, but sometomes life is strange like that.

To me it sounds like Lamonster's dash maybe causing the same problem this other Spyder had? I called my dealer on Friday to confirm that after the test ride this had indeed fixed this Spyder, and it did.

I hope Lamonster can get his Spyder up and running again real soon.

Lamont, when they gave me a loaner cluster they didn't have to do anything with the keys. Our Service manager had one sitting on the shelf that came off another spyder with a different problem. He just plugged that one into my spyder and I used it until my new one came in. When the new cluster came in, he just popped the loaner off and plugged the new one in. There was never an issue other than my odometer reading is not the actual mileage on the spyder. When they plug into the computer, my actual hours do show up though. This is the first I have ever heard of the key matching the cluster. Also, I know Brian said he didn't know if my spyder went into limp mode or not, it did just as I pulled into the dealer so I never had it completely die on me anywhere else.

Yea I just got a PM about that. Guess the key has nothing to do with the cluster. :opps: Anyway I have Ron coming over and I'm going to pop his out and plug it into mine and see what happens. :doorag:

Well Ron came over and we swapped out the cluster and it worked fine. Plugged my cluster into his Spyder and he had the same code. I thought great, it's a bad cluster. Then Ron gets to looking at it in the light and noticed there was one pin bent all the way to one side and that was why I was throwing a code. Got the pin straighten out and all is well again. I have no idea that I only bent one pin and nothing else but I did. :opps: Anyway I'm good to go again.

Good to know!!! Glad you got it fixed up without relying on a dealer to figure it out.

I know 1 pin on a connection can make all the difference i have bent many of them working on computers :yikes: Never would have thought to look at them on this though LOL

Glad you got it figured out and fixed. I want us all on healthy spyders when we head out to LA. Just over a month to go and we are on our way.

Glad you found it and had Ron so close to provide you with a cluster. Thanks again to the Forum, another Spyder Ryder recieves help through various inputs.
