• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Yes, I have. My Spyder typically reads about 4-5 kilometres per hour faster than the speed indicated on my Garmin Street Pilot 2610.

I get 3 speeds...one from the digital read-out, one from the speedometer, and one from the GPS...they're NEVER the same...talk about confusing...

They can be up to 4 mph off, by what I've seen! argh!

What is this 'speedometer' thing you guys are talking about and what is it used for?:D

Every once in a while, I have noticed signs on the side of the road, which I think are intended as suggested speeds for optimal travel. I often find the suggestions pessimistically low, though...

Oh - THAT thing with numbers on it on the center console. It never seems to match those numbers on the signs - usually it's about double what they say. Guess I should have the dealer look at it! :D

Mine is anywhere from 1-4MPH faster than my Garmin. I usually go by the GPS speed as it reads exact to my Car so feel that it is a bit more accurate in most cases.

The GPS is a lot more accurate in almost all cases!
If I remember right there's a way to tweak the speed numbers via the BUDDs system. Might have the tech look at it the next time the Spyder has to go in for work.

Allways under the speed limit (read by the radar jammer) :shemademe_smilie::opps:

Yup Speedometer always seems to be about 3 mph faster. So when I am going 70mph by spyder standards GPS says 67mph. It seems to be fairly consistent with that difference at all speeds as well.

The last time I checked, the spyder was 4.4% higher than the Zumo 550. This also means you haven't gone as far as you think.

Problem with this is unless its a percentage like someone else stated a static number wouldn't do the job. at 45mph on the speedo the garmin reads 44 at 55 on the speedo the garmin reads 53 and at 70+mph its a 4mph difference its really wierd

not necessarily true...i work on gps's as part of my job...they are never real accurate, unless u spend 5 thou or so......i wouldnt rely on the gps totally

I hear they make the speedo read a few mph higher on motorcycles on purpose so the rider will go slower. All of the bikes I owned reads higher then the actual gps speed.

Here's how it goes...

My digital speedometer is usually about 3-5mph faster than the stick reading...the GPS is usually slower than the digital as well...think about it...it's bouncing your position off a satellite and back...of course it's gonna be off a little...

So, you will end up with 3 different readings...so be it..take the average and be happy!

I have compared...

I have compared my speedometer speed with the Unmanned Police radar systems they set up on the side of the road. My speedometer reads the same as these systems. Every time. :2thumbs:

:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack: Just tell them you're trying to catch up with the person ahead of you to tell them that they're speeding!
