There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Sena SM-10, Does it work?????

Yes you can coil up the wire in the space behind the radio under the right passenger handrail. That cover is easily removed (see my videos).

As for volume, on the SM10 you have a volume boost function. After it is on and streaming music push the button twice. This is in the SM10 manual.

Bob
Thanks Bob! The update to my owners manual from Sena for the Dongle was missing and I was able to increase the volume!

Wow - missed that one :)
Regarding boost. Does the SM10 remember when you turn it back on, or do you need to select it each time?

TIA

AJ

I just never turn mine off. Its been on continuously for over a year now....links up with my helmet every time I turn the helmet on.

I have found that people who have the bluetooth dongle often have endless trouble. Using the Sena products without that I have had phenomenal success with both the SMH-10 and 20S. I often pair with club members instantly that haven't seen for a month or more, and I never lose my wife on intercom except for the moments that garmin gives me route instructions.
Do you talk voice activated or do you have to press a button?

On the SMH-10 you can select either option on the setup screen on the PC when it is connected to one. I turned my VOX on and with all the wind noise and muffler noise (Spyder Attitude Exhaust) the headsets kept switching to intercom. I turned it back off and now if my wife or I want to talk to one another we just tap on the volume control wheel and it activates the intercom. When we finish our discussion we tap on it again and it goes back to the radio, Ipod, XM, or regular radio, whichever we have it on.

Thanks,
Steve

I have the SM10 & S20 installed on my helmet & 2014 spyder... I won't recommend Sena.. my set up constantly un-pairs... I have paired it at last 2 dozen times. .. called Sena customer service... and was told that I could not use I-Pod or FM as my music source.... so what good is it... ???
to answer your question.. NO, IT DOES NOT WORK !!! SAVE YOUR MONEY !!!

oh ... I forgot to mention...I have the custom made Bluetooth dongle...

osm
You don't say which 2014 you have.
Whoever told you that an iPod or your FM radio on the Spyder (given that it has a built in entertainment system and iPod interface) would not work as a source knows not what they are talking about as can be seen by the innumerable number of people that have such a system working.

Sorry to say, you have to do it next power on. It does not remember. I wish it did.

Bob

My SM-10 remembers the volume boost every time it's powered on.
It remembers all the pairing.

My only complaint is that it doesn't power on and off with external power, like the GPS, or even the SR-10. Sometimes I forget to turn it off and the SM-10 battery drains completely. It needs recharging before use. If I'm patient, I can ride for 40 minute or so and get enough charge to function. Either that, or just remove it and put it on a wall charger.

The pairing and boost are remembered even after a dead battery is recharged.

Mine remembers the paring but not the boost function.

What firmware are you on with your SM-10? I am on 1.1 the latest but when I got it, it was on 1.0 perhaps it remembers it on 1.0?

Bob

My firmware for the SM-10 is 1.1
I just upgraded the SMH-10 to 5.1.1 today.

I must admit, I had my very first experience with the "whine".
I left PA about 6:00 am. I had no whine. I got to the Vince Lombardi rest area on the NJ Turnpike, and the whine was suddenly VERY pronounced. It was constant and didn't change with engine speed.
From this, I've concluded that it has nothing to do with the wiring on the Spyder.
I drove for another hour or so and got to Norwalk CT where I stopped at work.
I could still hear the whine in the background, again constant regardless of engine speed.
Without shutting off the engine, I turned off the SM-10, and my SMH-10.
I waited a few seconds, then turned the SM-10 on and also my SMH-10.
The whine was gone.
Go figure.
I didn't notice any whine until I got to the Vince Lombardi station in NJ. I have never seen so many truck parked there. I wonder if there was a lot of background RF noise that somehow saturated the bluetooth ?

I got home and did the firmware update. I haven't tried the bluetooth since then.

Remember after upgrade:

STEP .03 PAIR
Reset your product to factory default setting (refer to User's Guide) and pair your product with your Bluetooth devices again.

Confused

I just never turn mine off. Its been on continuously for over a year now....links up with my helmet every time I turn the helmet on.

I am confused here and concerned my dongle is not power off when the Spyder is off. I have a RT-S 2015, just picked it up last Friday and I had the dealer install the sena dongle for me. I look in the frunk when the machine is off and I don't see any lights on the dongle, making me believe its powered off? I assume this is correct?

I also, have the SMH-10 in my helmet and hair it all paired correctly and working well with the SM-10. I mounted a spare Ipod in the trunk for my Ipod music. But I also have my Iphone 6 paired to my SMH-10

No, I believe you are incorrect. The dongle must be manually turned on and manually turned off.
That's the problem, it doesn't turn itself on and off with external power, so if you shut down your Spyder and walk away, the dongle remains on using it's internal battery. The dongle battery will eventually run down and the unit will not function until it's charged up again.
Some people have solved this problem by changing the power source to an "always on" connection, instead of a "switched" connection. That way, the dongle is powered by the Spyder battery, which has a much higher capacity than the dongle internal battery, but over a long time, say for instance winter, this will also drain the vehicle battery, unless you have it on a battery tender.

Wouldn't the dongle power light be still on if the dongle was still on after I shut the machine down?

This is not the case for me. I shut the machine down and all the lights go out on the dongle?

Which lights are you referring to ? I think if you've shut off your headset(s), the SMH-10, then the blue and red lights surrounding the middle button will be off, since the aren't paired with anything.
The little light in the lower corner will also be out because you aren't charging the unit since you've shut down your Spyder.

Try shutting off the Spyder, and leave the headset on.

I'll play with the light functions when I get home tonight and see if this description is correct.

The curved LED lights around the button will be on if the SM10 power switch is on.

There is a little single LED that is:
RED when the unit is charging.
BLUE when the unit is charged but still connected to power.
OFF when no power is connected.
