• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Sena SM-10, Does it work?????

The curved LED lights around the button will be on if the SM10 power switch is on.

There is a little single LED that is:
RED when the unit is charging.
BLUE when the unit is charged but still connected to power.
OFF when no power is connected.

Bob

that's exactly as I saw it Bob..... Thank you.

The SM10 works just fine. You must remember to turn it off after you are done riding for the day or plug it into a power source that is on all the time.
Yes you can only pair one music source to any Sena headset. Since you have the SM10, it will be your music source. All your other music sources have to be connected to it. Plug your ipod into the ipod connector into the rear trunk. So now it is indirectly connected to the SM10. There is FM in the radio so you can choose that if you like.
That's not quite true, Billy. While it is true that you can only connect to one A2DP (music audio) source at a time, it will pair with at least two. (Never tried more than two.) I have my SMH10 headset paired with my phone (in both HFP and A2DP protocols) AND my SM10 dongle. I can listen to either music source by turning the A2DP connection on the other device off, and then re-connecting (not re-pairing) the music source I want to listen to. Either way the HFP (hands free phone) connection to my phone is always activated.

That said, it's not always "seamless". Sometimes, when switching between music sources I have to cycle the BT radio on my phone a few times (or cycle the power switch on the SM10 a few times) before the new music connection is made. But I never have to actually re-pair either device. It also may be the case that in order to set up pairing for these two music sources, you must pair with the phone first and THEN the SM10. (Don't know for sure because I've never tried it the other way. I always start pairing with the phone first, since that seems to work better when pairing with multiple devices.)

Some day, I'd like to buy the new Sena 20S to see if that makes multiple pairings work any better than on the SMH10. But I have resisted that, as i wouldn't use the additional features that it has.

I can tell you it does!
One thing both I and my Wife like is being able to hear the music from the SM10 in the background while talking.... This for me, is the reason I got the 20S headsets.

Frankly, I was surprised that the SMH10 didn't do that. I had a Garmin audio panel in my Cessna ten years ago that had that feature. Whenever anyone would talk on the intercom, or a tower or ATC would call on the radio, the music simply dimmed into the background. It was a setting that you could turn on or off with the switch. You could also set it not to fade the music at all when it's sensed an intercom input. That was nicknamed "karaoke mode". Only time I used that was sometimes, when I was in the plane by myself, I could sing along with the music and hear both the music and my own voice, via the side tone. Neat effect. ;) (Of course any music input always faded, or muted, with a radio call.)

Remember after upgrade:

STEP .03 PAIR
Reset your product to factory default setting (refer to User's Guide) and pair your product with your Bluetooth devices again.

Yes, thank you very much for that.
There is an old maxim in engineering that states simply:
When you've tried absolutely everything and nothing seems to work, as a final last ditch effort, read the directions.

I wound up with the dreaded whine in the headset. I know it was in the headset itself. The whine was consistent regardless of engine speed, and in fact it even persisted when I turned off the SM-10 dongle.

So here is where I am now.
I have the BRP dongle installed by BRP in the frunk and powered by the bike.

I've updated the firmware on both SM-10 dongle and SMH-10 headset. (correctly I might add).

Updating the first firmware the first time eliminated all the dropouts.
Updating the firmware correctly got rid of the whine.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I still hate having to turn it on and off. I may power it off a non switched source. Maybe change the 12V outlet to the non switched service.

Well, I've got egg on my face

That damn whine came back.
I disconnected the power to the SM-10 and the whine went away.
I'll try to power the SM-10 off a short line to the frunk 12V and see if that goes away.
If that doesn't work, it's off to the dealer. The thing is, the whine just showed up. I didn't have it for the first 7 months I owned the Spyder.

The dealer fixed the problem. It was the SM-10 dongle iself.
They replaced it and the system works fine.
It was done on warranty.
