• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

strange noise

All of a sudden I got a strange noise when I first turn the key on. Almost sounds like a electric fuel pump. But it never did it before with over 9,000 miles on it. ??????

Oh I also got the new improved brake pads put on. And It's the sorryest thing I ever did. Now they squeel so bad you can here them 400 + yards away. The original pads were a lot quiter and stopped better too.

Did you change the front or the back pads? I change my back pads and the squeak is gone.

Look on the bright side...maybe your hearing is improving! I can hear my fuel pump spin up when I turn on the key... always have. As far as the brake squeal, mine has almost completely disappeared (Yea.. it took 7000 miles), except in reverse when it sounds like a school bus.:cus:

Use De-Squeak by CRC. As I couldn't get my Dealer to do anything about the squeaky brakes, I used the De-Squeak and the squeak is gone for now... Important.. clean rotors and pads with the CRC Clean before using De-Squeak it does work better.

It is available at Auto Zone.. least in my local area.

Be VERY careful when using the de-squeak !

Follow the instructions - and find a place without traffic to do 15-20 slow speed stops--- because right after spraying it on---- your breaks basically are worthless for 5 or so stops. I did it and was shocked at how many stops it took to regain good stopping power.

After about 15 stops things seem back to normal. Kept all sqeaking away for about a week - then it returned.

Some would advise against this, but I applied some WD40 to the backs of my rear brake pads......been quiet for almost two weeks now, and over 300 miles of city driving.:f_spider:

If you are going to talke the time to tear down the brakes to apply something to the backs of the pads, use CRC Disk Brake Quiet. This is a rubbery compound that, after it sets up, provides some insulation and vibration dampening between the pad and the caliper piston. Works quite well, particularly if the brakes have been thoroughly cleaned in the process (necessary) and the instructions are followed.

Didn't clean or take anything apart....just used the straw to get in between there.
Oh, I also sprayed some in the park brake mechanism.
