I get Sadie telling me where to go. I've got media available, I can see the song displayed and the timer running. I just get no music thru the sena headset, only directions.
And guess what, it's Saturday. Garmin ain't open. Oh, and I just downloaded a software update (it didn't help).
Anybody gots any ideas.??

I play mine through my phone to the 590 to my headset. If you are doing the same think make sure your volume is up on the phone.

AS said before you need to turn the volume up to 50-80% leave it alone and then use only the Sena to adjust your volume.

Volume at 80% and I can see time passing on the playbar. Same result when hooked to G3 phone. No joy.
I know I'm doing something wrong, just can't figure what.

I have a similar problem with my S20... called Sena tech... was told I could NOT use FM or Ipod as a music source ? guess its time for me to can all this Sena junk ... it DOES NOT WORK ! I am tired of constantly pairing it ... again & again & again

The Sena 20s WILL play music from my phone (G3) but NOT from the 590. Altho it will give audible directions, just not play music. drat

Unless the 590 is different, audio output of your Garmin Playlist is NOT sent out via bluetooth it is an audio output.
Their is a phone jack on the Garmin.
This "jack" was located under a rubber insert on the side of the Garmin held in place by a small screw.
The audio is meant to either be connected via a male to male cable to an input jack (aux jack) of a radio or to plugin a set of "earphones/buds."
Those using Harleys would run a cable from that jack to the Aux input of their radios.

Alas - the 590 doesn't have a audio out jack. Designed to play thru the mount or a headset (20s not approved).

Your 590 is not paired to your 20S as a music device. Clear the pairings on both the 20S and the 590. Then follow the procedure 5.1.1 Mobile Phone Pairing in the manual. I don't have the 20s, I have the SMH10 but think this functions the same.

Wrestling the Pig

I've been wrestling this pig ever since a got my 590 after a 7 month wait for the Tri-Axis bars mount. Here's a link in which finless Bob and Billybovine provided some sage advice. http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?79960-Bluetooth-basics

I am presently at what I believe is about 75% but am still not banging on all cylinders because I can't listen to the radio through the headset. Before getting the 590 in the circuit I had my Sena SMH10 headset and SM10 Bluetooth dongle. I could listen through my headset to all my Spyder's radio frequencies, use my iPhone 5S and play iPhone music on the radio Aux input using the 30-pin connector in the trunk and a 30-pin to lightning plug connector cable. Introduce the 590 and things got really squirrelly. Look at Billy's sequence of pairings. I followed them precisely without a lot of success because following them I lost they GPS turn by turn directions although I could hear music played through my iPhone. I went back to the SMH10 Owner's Guide and reexamined the pairing steps. The best success I've had thus far came this afternoon after I downloaded a bunch of MP3 format music to a micro SD card I installed in the 590. I can now play music on the 590 Media app, use my phone through the 590 phone app and get turn by turn directions from the GPS. Still no radio through the headset, but to get around that for the trip to Spyderfest I turned on the external speakers and just muted the volume. Want that weather station! I dropped a ticket with Sena today but won't hold my breath. The attached file is the step by step process I followed to get to where I am. Specifically the steps are from sections 6.1, 6.2 and 6.4.2, respectively of the SMH10 Owner's Guide. Walking through the guide I found the Section 6.4.2 step brought out the MP3 media app and the turn by turn GPS directions. Hope this helps, but I'm a real amateur on this Bluetooth pairing stuff.

My instructions should have worked. The key is to pair your headset with the SM10 first. The SM10 won't work any other way. Only pairing the SM10 will give you all the radio bands, anything connected to the Ipod connector and turn by turn from your GPS. If you want to answer phone calls then pair your phone to the headset. This is my setup and it works. In your example above. Since you can play music from your 590 then the SM10 won't work.

I did try your pairing sequence twice, both with the same result, loss of the turn by turn instructions from the GPS. After the second failure I changed your third pairing to Section 6.4.2 GPS Pairing as Mobile Phone and got the turn by turn instructions. The rub is still that I can't hear the Spyder radio. Please correct me if I'm wrong, with the Spyder radio hard wired to the SM10 it is in effect the Motorcycle Bluetooth Audio System shown in Sena Case Study #6. If that is the case then the case study's pairing procedures of Mobil Phone Pairing to the iPhone, Mobil Phone Pairing to the Motorcycle Bluetooth Audio System, and Multiport Pairing to the GPS should be used. The case study does not address the GPS MP-3 media app that exists in both the 660 and 590.

Forget about the BT for a minute. Is your GPS hardwired correctly. That means does the turn by turn instructions come out of the radio speakers?

The GPS is hardwired using the wiring harness that is integral to the Tri-Axis handlebar mount for the GPS. Ever since I purchased the Spyder I have had the radio speakers turned off and have always listened to the radio through the Sena headset. The GPS turn by turn instructions now come through the headset and mute the MP-3 music while the instructions are begin broadcast. Since I've temporarily turned on the radio speakers I can test them with the GPS.

Yes, the turn by turn instructions do come out of the radio speakers.

Every thing that comes out the radio speakers the SM10 will send to the headset. Including the turn by turn. So there is no need to pair the GPS to the headset. So why are you trying or am I missing something?

That's the rub. Right now with the headset on and radio speakers playing, including GPS overspeaking turn by turn directions, I hear nothing through the headset except the turn by turn directions. If I turn off the radio speakers I hear the turn by turn directions and nothing else. The radio speakers had low volume when I turned them off but they were not muted. Perhaps I should just retry pairing the SM10.
