• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

painted handle bar cover

I'm wanting to replace my stock gray painted handlebar cover with a chrome cover. What kind of wrench do you need to remove the chrome bolts (don't know what they are called) that holds the GPS mount and the cover on. How many bolts do you have to remove and does the GPS wire unplug somewhere under the cover? Has any one removed their stock handlebar cover before?:dontknow:

Having been through it, the grey isn't a cover, it IS the handle bar. It is not easy to get off to paint or replace. We took my wife's off to have powder coated black. It looks great as that is what she wanted, but the whole top of the dash has to be disassembled and there are some unfriendly bolts under the handlebars that have to be removed to get them off...

The true chrome handlebars are a full out replacement of the gray ones.

That being said, I think I have seen some chrome covers on ebay or somewhere else and if so, those in theory would only require taking out the main 4 bolts, gps, and maybe the grips/modules.

See my Tri-axis handle bar installation video. Part 1 shows how to remove the old stock grey handlebars.
I show every screw and what tools you need.

Be ready. The 4 bolts are on there tight and you have to bust loose a lot of locktite.

Its a major job! Sounds simple but it is far from it. I have done it, but I will tell you I would not do it again. Check out the chrome handlebar covers offered on Ebay. I have seen them and the look pretty good.
