• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Thank God for Vet Hospitals that take Care Credit

Week before last our 13 year old Chocolate Lab Guero started coughing and choking uncontrollably. We took him to our regular Vet at Pet Smart who convinced us to upgrade his plan to cover all the tests they thought he needed, and at the end of the day recommended we take him to the Emergency Vet Hospital so they could keep him on Oxygen. That's where we should have gone to begin with, they correctly diagnosed him with an apparently common syndrome in older bigger dogs, especially labs, call Laryngeal Paralysis Syndrome, Lar Par also known as COLLP. Long story short, between the hospital and the specialty surgery bill, we're in the hole around $2500. His prognosis is good he's been home almost a week now, we sure did miss him last weekend, and also grateful they take Care Credit. So I started a GoFundMe page for donations I hope this is allowed here. If anyone can spare what ever it would be greatly appreciated! So far I've gotten $290 in donations!

Here's a link to the Guero's Lar Par Surgery GoFundMe page and thanks for reading this:

He's healing well, still coughs some to be expected, but now I understand why his hips were giving trouble too....no more non stop tennis ball tirades!

Glad your dog is doing better. We lost our 8 year old Yorkie on 1/31/2015, just before midnight. That was after almost 5 days, and just shy of $6,000 of treatment at the veterinary medical center in our area.

Thoughts and :pray: for you both. The loss or the sickness of one of our fur family friends is very difficult indeed. They give us so much. :2thumbs:

Sorry to hear..!!

Recently lost our dachs and weeks later daughter lost her lab mix so know about the costs. Glad they were able to diagnose and help..all the best...

Its stories like this why we took out health care insurance for our Lab when he was a pup. For the rates they charge, the only way we will not break even is if for some reason he died young in an accident. At 3yrs old, we are already on the plus side and the claims are easy. But it only works if you buy in when they are a pup, its much too expensive later and too many exclusions.

Our pup is doing much better back to his old neurotic retriever self except with his larynx pinned we had to get a special dish to eat out of so he doesn't choke or asphyxiate wolfing his food down. Still on sedative another 5 days or so so he takes it easy. Raised close to 500 gofundme is a great too for good causes. Still got another 2k before the vet hospital bill is covered. If we ever get another pup definitely gonna get insurance[emoji190] [emoji190] thanks for your generosity!
