There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Blue ridge windshield

Retired 2012

New member
Got tired of waiting for my dealer to call me to tell me my windshield was delivered. So I called, they didn't even order it....
Seem the parts guy hit the wrong button and listed it as sold, not back ordered. So I was about to get heated, when the guy said come on
down we have them in stock now.
Good thing I called, cuz they thought I already had the windshield.... This place drives my crazy with the little mistakes that they just continue to make.
O'well the weather great so I let you all know how the shield works out for me.

Just got back form dealer, here are some photos of the blue ridge shield.
Seems to cover the chest area pretty well. I'll take her out tomorrow to test
it out at highway speeds. (sorry, the garage is so cluttered its hard to view the shield.)
They are going to due the warranty brake cable tomorrow, they were to busy to due it today.

Funny you should get yours the same day that mine arrived in the mail. Still waiting on my aux. lights though. Pretty straight forward to put on the bike. Took all of 15 minutes. Took a quick test ride, and it does keep the wind off of the chest. Now to get the led lights.....

Madstad windshield

Just got back from madstad windshield for a F3S install, they did a super job, and are very helpful in instal and set up. This windshield can be adjusted up and down, and tilted in or outwards, to give you a custom fit.

How Tall??

I'm six feet tall and am very interested in the Mastad. I'm curious how tall you are and if have you ridden with it and gotten it adjusted to suit you. I would guess the owner would have to experiment with the adjustments to find the sweet spot that works best. Is this their production model and is it available and on the market yet?? I do really like how distortion free this windshield is.

More pics

re: Mastad

Can you post some side pics when you have time, I am very interested in this windshield. I am 6'1" and am curious how high it goes at its' highest setting.

Upon looking closer at your picture posted it looks like you have the 'spoiler windshield' (tinted) and that they mounted the winshield to that? Was there any drilling to the bike itself? I am going to send Mastad an email shortly, and would you mind saying roughly how much it cost? I wouldn't be able to have them install as I'm up here in Northern Canada, but would be interested in ordering one shipped to me (even with crazy shipping costs :) but I am hoping the install isn't too complex.

Any additional pics would be Greatly appreciated!

Blue Ridge WS is beautiful !

The Blue Ridge windshield is a beautiful product and adds so much to your F3. Thanks for the before and after photos. Good choice. One last note, just because people work for a company that sells $20,000.00 motorcycles doesn't make them any smarter. May God grant you the serenity to accept those things that you cannot change.

Remember: "Live before you die".

Thanks for sharing windshield pictures.

If you would share your height, inseam, sleeve length and handlebar/footrest positions, plus where the wind hits you: body/head (or doesn't) - others would have a reasonable way to determine if your windshield of choice might work for them.

To me the BRP blue ridge looks better suited to the F3 styling than the Madstad - but thats just me. Just going by pictures - in person might look totally different.

If Madstad did a windshield for the F3 that is like the one they did for the VSTROM- I'd be all over it.

Finding a windshield that suits me is always hard - went threw three for my 2008 Spyder RS before magic happened.

3 factors for me: 1. styling 2. I can see over windshield 3. wind does not hit body or head. My old neck/body just can't take bobble head riding anymore nor leaning way forward.

Windshields are kinda like shoes - one style/size doesn't fit all.

OK,
I'm 5'10 ish , 30 inseam, 34 sleeve,
The shield works great for my body, but at freeway speeds it does hit my neck and head, although it doesn't feel that bad, but I always ride with
a 3/4 or full face helmet.
I'm happy with it for now, if I do any long trips I might feel differently. I normally ride a few days a week but short 60-100 mile rides and usually back roads.
I wanted a shield that didn't change the look of the F3-S, but still offered some protection.
Maybe a add on lip for the top of the shield would help if you are taller then me. Or maybe get the Madstad brackets and use them on the Blue Ridge
shield I you like the look better...

Hope this helps

Gauge Spoiler?

I was just re-looking at this picture, and i couldn't tell if you mounted the Mastad windshield onto the BRP Gauge Spoiler (the tinted piece below the Mastad windshield) or if that's just the instrument cluster?

not the best picture, but it shows the clarity, and the adjustment brackets.

Looks like a gauge spoiler

It sure looks just like the gauge spoiler, but it is part of the MadStad system. They mount this dark plastic platform NO new holes in the Spyder, and then attach the windshield to this. The windshield is totally adjustable, and requires NO new holes be put in the Spyder. In addition, they have a system, that allows you to remove the windshield and then put it back on to what looks like the gauge spoiler without tools, quite unique. The system is two pieces put together to reduce wind buffeting.

Another Picture

I'd like to see this windshield on the F3 with a six foot tall rider on the seat so that we can get some sort of idea how tall this set-up is or could be adjusted to. Pictures speak a thousand words each.

It would probably be . . . .

. . . . . the wrong thousand words. You would also need to see pictures of it in a wind-tunnel, with the shield at several different heights, angles and extensions to 'see' what you are looking for. And they have a selection of shield heights and widths. Oh yeah, and pictures showing both one-ups and two-ups.

We will have to wait and see what they come up with as it is still being developed and fabricated.

One other plus on the Madstad system is that you can use other shields on the brackets. Also, in the past, riders have been surprised at how much coverage they can get with smaller shields.

Make sure you check their site for what they have and how it works.
