• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Disconnecting the seat piston

This is so basic ... please bear with me. I just acquired a 2014 RT Limited and the dealership installed the BRP backrest upon delivery. The backrest sits me a little too straight up. From what I've been able to find out so far, the only way to get any backward/forward adjustment on the rest is to put spacers on one end of the bracket under the seat to tilt the bracket in the direction you want. Now for the stupid question. What's the proper way to disconnect the little piston so the seat can be raised up more for easier access? I tend to get ham-handed from time to time so I didn't put too much pressure trying to pop one end off the "ball" joint it's connected to for fear of breaking something. Is that the right way to do it? Thanks.

If the seat piston is the same as the pistons in the side compartments you just need to take a flat tip and slip it under the clip. Give the screwdriver about a 1/4 turn and it will release the piston. I'm too lazy to go out to look at mine but I hope this helps.

If its like my RS seat piston you will see a recess or flat area right under the middle of the metal clip. Take a small flat head screw driver and slide it under the clip. Leave the screw driver in place. This will lift the clip and you can pull the shock rod off of the ball.
Again, leave the screw driver in place. Then when you put it back together it will make it easy to get the shock back on the ball. Once its all in place, then pull the screw driver out.

And "they" say you never offer tech info. :banghead:

BUUUUUUUT

I didn't think there was any adjustment possible on the OEM backrest........and this was the main reason other people have opted for the Utopia ???..Mike

Mike - you can change the angle a bit, by putting spacers/washers on one end of the bracket, thereby tilting the backrest. Not a lot, but I understand it's enough for many.

The above posters have you covered. As you can see, an easy job once you open the "hood." I removed mine when I put the Corbin seat with gas flap on the 2010.
