• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Stopped by the dealer today to get a price on the 14k maint.....WOW somewhere between $700 and $1300 depending if I want them to check the valves. So, I climbed on a 2014 RTL and took it for a short ride.....that was a mistake...now I want one but can't afford it...oh well guess i'll just wait til 2016 or so.....

I kinda did my own 14K maint, without the valve check (no noise) and at 17K. Spark plugs still looked good but changed them and the wires (Bajaron), air filter looked fine but got a new one on ebay so I changed it, new anti freeze with water wetter, front (Bajaron) and rear brake pads (ebay), bleed the brakes (flush out old fluid). New sway bar links(Bajaron). I also got to mingle my DNA with the Spyder (I bled). The point is that BRP is very conservative on the maint schedule, and you can do it. Took two days, I wasn't in a hurry.

Mine is coming up. I am taking it in to have the valves checked period. I have enough on my extended to make that discussion.

FYI, I CAN do the valve check myself! But I have warranty work I want done. Evap Can and Evap check valve replaced.

TRUST I am nervous about it! I would rather do it myself as at this point.
I honestly do not trust anyone to wrench on my Spyder. Alas, it's got to happen.

I am giving my dealer a hard time about it as we speak. I told him, I want to be there and watch period! I told him I have after market stuff on my Spyder the mech has to be aware of. If they won't allow that I will go elsewhere. He told me he has to get OK from the general manager. If they give me some BS about liability, I told them I will find someone that won't. We shall see...

I will probably get it done, I forgot to ask the tech what he thought the last time I was at the dealer. I know how you feel about someone else working on my Spyder.

Please share with us mere mortals what to say to a dealer to be allowed in the shop. The last time I was allowed in the shop was the last time my RT or I was in the "shop".

On a 2014?

I think you have to be more specific with your dealer. A 14k service on a 2014, if it's a three banger, is WAY to much at $700/$1300. They may have given you a quote for twin. 14K should only be your second service after your first 3k brake in service if you do it at 5k intervals. Check back with them and make sure. A service, oil/filter safety check, on a 2014 shouldn't be over $300 at the most. A less costly maintenance schedule is one of Can Am selling points for 2014.

My Spyder is a 2013 RTL....

OOP's i stand corrected

My Spyder is a 2013 RTL....

Yep a 2013 will cost more alright. The 3k service on my 2014 was $180 and took about one hour to preform. Thankful it came with a warrantee because I've had a load of codes and belt/tire problems. Constant limp home mode about every 100 miles or so. Had it in the shop several times and still doing the same thing. Has anybody had hot belt issues? When ever I stop and open the rear trunk hot rubber aroma comes out of the latch openings. All in all the bike seems to run fine but my MPG went from high 30's and an occasional 40/42 down to low 30's after the 3k service. :dontknow: I drive the same road at the same speed and fill up at the same pump to the same level in the tank.
By the way, is there any limit to how much gas you can put in a Spyder? 10, maybe 12 gallons if you go slow on the fill up? :roflblack:
