This will be our 3rd SpyderFest and we are looking forward to the great time in Missouri and reacquainting with SpyderLovers from all over. There have been comments on 'do this' and 'do that': stay the course you have planned. As my dad used to say, some people "would bit$h if you gave them a gold brick because they'd have to carry it to the bank". As a volunteer group, you expend a great deal of effort to make our trip memorable - thank you!
I think it's fair to state that not everyone can do everything - only so much time in the day. Having personal experience with ride planning and leading as a road captain, it only takes one rider to foul my plans. The hot doggers will complain about a person with lesser skill; the newer riders will complain as the hotdogger seems like they are trying to procreate Spyder offspring. When we ride in a group we give up our individual freedom for the sake of the group. It's easy to make a plan on sign up and times, but then we as riders need to commit to being there, which often doesn't happen (as we get distracted by other events, or in conversation, or it's too hot or too cold, etc.). Also, if you want to feel welcomed at an event, make others feel welcome, too: it's all to easy to find the self important person in any situation.
See ya'll in April!
