RT trailer hitch

Been looking for a trailer hitch for my 14 RT SE6. Does anybody know of any major differences between the BRP hitch and the same looking hitch that is shown on ebay for several hundred dollars less. The ones I have looked at on ebay are from a bike parts company that seems to have a good reputation. They look like the same hitch but I can't tell if the quality might be different. Is it just about the name that may be stamped on the metal?

I'm sure some of you have wondered about this and may have seen the difference.

First. The BRP hitch is easy to install did I say easy!
Second. Comes with the wiring harness, plug and play. I think it is definitely worth the money.

:agree:, been there and have had both, go with the BRP one, it won't cost much more in the long run.

I could not agree more. In the long run it is probably just as much to put on the A/M by time you add up your time and frustration getting an A/M hitch to work. Oh well.

This is what you get with a BRP RT hitch kit.

There are 2 types of aftermarket hitches. There is a type that the axle has to be removed to install. I would not get that type at all just too inconvenient to install and work around later. There is the Show Chrome hitch that attaches the same as the BRP one.

This is what you get with a Show Chrome hitch kit.

You will notice that you do not get a wiring harness, mud flap or ball. Those are extras.

RT hitch

We went with the BRP hitch on both of our RT's , the only problem we had and it was with both hitch kits was the module that controls the break,turn,and running lights both burned out on a trip at about the same time , we were near a good Can-Am shop and they fixed it by replacing the module with generic ones , it was explained to us that since we were not pulling BRP trailers the module was constantly searching for a signal from the trailer. the generic ones have worked for a year now with no problems , my only issue was it cost $350.00 to fix the problem and the wiring accessories were not covered under warranty even tho the parts that went bad within 2 months of install were O&M . At the time I was just glad to get back on the road to continue our trip .
