There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. F3 Tandem Riding - Touring

For those of you that have the new F3 and ride tandem....how is the comfort for your passenger? Seems like it would be Ok for the short haul, but not for any cross country or touring ride? Looks like this is trying to snag some 2 wheelers to the Spyder family. It's a great bike and perhaps BRP will come out with this frame but add a touring package for those of us that like the long haul with our significant other.

Let's see..!!

they do have a touring package you can add for a (few.?) bucks more but I don't know what all is included...:dontknow:

Time will tell when the beta testers put some touring miles on.

I am speculating that the ride will be less cushy than the RT touring experience. The ergos seem to be set up for one up riding more than tandem. Most cruisers do not give as much comfort to the passenger as a bike built for touring.

Anyone done a long ride (600 to 1000 miles) in a day yet, two up, on the F3?

Touring

I have a 2013 RTL and don't like to ride much more than 300 miles a day....but i'm old and I like to look at stuff.....if i'm on the super slab then it's a diff story.

For short rides, yes. Same comfort as in the RS. For long travels... your passenger will not enjoy it. Even if you get the large backrest I don't see a long trip with a passenger, both of you will not be comfortable.
IMO that is what the RT is for: long travels for 2 people.

when we went to test ride this they said to "tour it up" as they had pictured on the truck and brochure was in the range of an additional 6k. at this point i think the RT is a better value. Id like to see them start lowering prices on the RS to get some more of them out there but not likely i am sure.

No question - if you "tour it up" the F3 costs every bit as much as the RT Limited and doesn't match the comfort.... i did the backrests, floorboards, and windshield as a compromise.. I will use nelson riggs 855 saddlebags in lieu of the $1400 F3 saddlebags when I need them

Since our first Spyder (2008 GS SE5) and our current 2010 RT SM5, my wife has ridden for 97,000 miles sitting behind me. Last weekend we got to see and sit on an F3. Her words, "There is no way I am going to ride behind you on this thing!" That's from a lady that sat behind me on our journey around the US and parts of Canada in 2009 on our GS (back rest, GIVI 35 bags, CalSci windshield, and handle bar riser, Corbin seat, 13,624 miles in 7.5 weeks). It's a great machine (the F3) but it's not for us. If you wish to ride long hours with the best comfort, I would suggest an RT.

By the time you load up with the Touring Package; you might just as well buy an RT-S; you'll be entering that price range anyway.
