• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Squeeky brakes

My breaks squeek as well I only have 250 miles on it. I think it's really odd that a brand new bikes brakes would squeek. Guess I'll give the idea above a try and see if it helps.

The squeaking is normal for a metallic/semi-metallic brake pad...they will last a lot longer and cost you less...

I'm used to the noise and really don't care...they're better brakes...

Yeah, the squeeky brakes are there for me also. I have about 625 or so mil on my brakes. I tried some suggestions, but it still did not work. :gaah:

I did what Scotty recommended and it does work...I'd say the squeaking is reduced about 50%...I will have to do that again once I start putting more miles on the bike in the warmer weather....then again, it's getting cold and wet again tomorrow...argh!

All I remember is what I learned from my BMW dealership many years ago...organic brake pads are soft and wear out very quickly...sometimes they don't hold that well...semi-metallic/metallic may squeak a little, but they'll last far longer and give you better braking ability...

Someone posted a while back about WD40 curing his squeeky brakes......well, my rear brake would always squeek just before coming to a stop. I put some WD on the BACK of the pads and the squeek is GONE! :ohyea:

Not a good idea to use WD-40 or any other lubricant around brake pads. Any stray material will that finds its way to the pads or rotor will reduce your braking capability, and could even render the brakes inoperable! You would be better off to do as BRP suggested in their first squeaky brake service bulletin. Remove the pads, clean the brakes thoroughly with CRC Brake Cleaner or an equivalent brake cleaning product, then put CRC Disk Brake Quiet on the back of the pads, let it dry as per the instructions, and reinstall the pads. Provides a more permanent vibration damper than the WD-40 trick.

Who said the new pads are organic?:dontknow: Just had them replaced on Smylinacha's Spyder, and the squeal from the new ones is worse than the originals....

same here ...i'm taking mine off tomorrow and greasing caliper slides and putting anti-squeak on back of pads ....i talked to machanic that did my break job told me he didnt do either of those ...i remember an old boss told me use it ...grease it you shouldnt have a problem .... so...ill let everone know how it worked out and yes i'll take pics ....:D

i agree with scotty wd40 is not a good fix for breaks ....

Does anyone have problems with squeeky brakes, my fluid levels are fine. They seem to be worse when I'm riding double.:dontknow:. I truly love my:spyder:and I have a lot of mods I woiuld like to do to it. Here's another question, can you change out the stocked bulbs and replace them with brighter bulbs vs. buying all the harness options or will that screw up any of the computer readings?

Yes, I have sqeaky brakes also, plan to see dealer about them. I also contacted BRP and they are aware that some brakes sqeak. I sprayed brake rotor spray on the rotors and it stopped.
