There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To wear a helmet or not

It surprises me that 20 states require a helmet but surprise me more that 5 states have no helmet law at all. I usually use a helmet but once in a great while want a little wind through the locks.

Lost the locks awhile back:yikes: But want to protect what i got left!!!! HELMET:roflblack:

I had an accident today on my :ani29:. I was wearing my helmet, but fortunately it did not come into play. Speed was at 50 miles per hour.

A large dog came out of the woods from nowhere, I had less than a second, a semi was oncoming in the other lane, no choice, I could not avoid the dog. He flew and was injured severely. I broke some cowl parts on my 2014, going to the dealer on Wednesday to check for additional damage.

A motorist in a cage hauled the injured dog off.

You just never know when something bad is going to happen. :(

Can we take a little bit of a time out folks. A simple subject like helmets and no helmets--and here we go again. Not 24 hours from the latest bout of drama.

Its okay to have an opinion, pro or con. What is wrong is to jump on the soapbox and take the biggest safety rule book (or not) and start banging other peoples heads with it
I don't really see that happening on this thread. What I mostly see is folks just stating their opinions about wearing helmets - which is what the OP asked for. Some have used humor to do that. Some have stated their opinion a little more adamantly perhaps; but pretty much all have been respectful of others. No personal attacks. I think we've all learned our lesson - at least for the time being. One can hope.

Wow! Today's ride was NOT a good one. I feel bad for you. Hope the Spyder gets fixed up quickly, and glad you are OK. It could have turned out much worse on a two wheeler - that helmet might well have come into play then.

Need an unlike button for this post as not a nice experience for you. Pleased to hear you're ok.

Have always worn a helmet and they have saved my life twice.

Have lost a good friend who wasn't.

Not preaching just saying, still your choice.

I love riding without it....but with my new Gal riding behind me it is helment all the time. Would kill me if something happened to her. Just my reason for wearing. Great posts and lot of food for thought....pro n con!

I choose NOT to wear one , the great state of texas gave me that option. besides- a helmet or body armor short of jousting in medieval days isn't for me! when your time is up none of that matters...and I apologize to any one in advance for my comment, dont want to offend anyone:sour:,, I do get my feelings hurt when someone pops off insinuating we are stupid for not wearing helmets though..:lecturef_smilie:

i respect your right not to wear a helmet, i just don't want my tax dollars keeping you alive for your adult decision. Insurance companies have to eat it for your decision which also means the other insured are eating it.

D,
Tell us what could have happened, if it had been a 500 pound Black Bear... :yikes:
:cus: happens, and you'd better be prepared for it...
Glad that you're okay!

Wearing a helmet saved my life at 17. I'm a true believer and won't wear anything less than a full face.

Same here @ 28. 3/4 helmet. My body was bruised and battered after I ran off the road at 50mph but my brain survived. I still suffer back pain from it though....

Same here first day he finally got to ride his 2yr project HD Café racer he got run down from behind, no helmet.

Wow, did not expect so may comments in such a short while.
Yes, I had some accidents on my motorbike so I know what it is.
Sincerely hope we all stay out of trouble!
Initially was only trying to find out what laws apply where, think I got the picture in the US but i live in Europe:opps:
The comments on the safety belt, I totally agree, makes no sense. But without that and without a helmet, i would even get a ticket for almost 200$
So for all of you, Ride Safe:clap:
