• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Turn Indicators

Has anyone replaced the rear indicators on a Spyder RS with an after market product? Did Nanny get upset or was everything ok?

I was fitting a Givi panner fittng system on my Spyder and you need to relocate the indicators. When I was removing one of them from the mounting I managed to shear off the mounting bolt :-( Though in my defence the metal was so soft that there are cheeses that have better tensile strength.

So firstly I've got to get a replacement indicator and knowing my luck it will be out-of-stock or I'll break it as well. Secondly with the Givi kit on the indicators are relocated onto the rear mud guard and to be honest that looks ugly with the standard indicators. It also will probably increase the likelihood of the cracking struts issue. I'd like to change the arrangement as well.

Depends..!

as long as you are using conventional types you will be fine. If you go with led's you may have issues. I added led's to the brake system but kept the stock bulbs in the brake lights and leds in the turnsignal brake lights and the nanny was fine with it. Lower voltage bulbs make the nanny thing your bulbs are burned out...

 Remember...
:lecturef_smilie: We're going to have to see the pictures of your finished project! :2thumbs: :D

Well Bob at the moment it looks like this which is not really an improvement...

...but hopefully it will all go back together again. While doing the panniers brackets I decided to sort a few other jobs (power point on dash, canisterectomy, full service etc). Been riding it thought the winter so thought it needed a bit of love now spring is here.

You can get the same indicators that are put on the Spyder in USA and Canada from your dealer in NZ, they certainly look better than
the big ugly paddles we get. Im not sure of the part numbers, but give your dealer a call, or JFKs in AKL can get them and send to you.

If you find some nice flush mounts that look good post up your findings.
I have been staring at mine for awhile and think that something that mounts without the "stalk" would look nice.

Thinking maybe some front indicators off a sport bike????

Thx looking to do same on my st and add euro signals to the mirrors if i can, found these nifty ,not practical, skull lights ImageUploadedByTapatalk1411370102.753692.jpg just an idea.

Thanks for the info Colin I'll give JFKs a go as that sounds like a good idea.

Nearest dealer was in Ashburton but they have gone so I believe the only South Island one who does Spyders is in Invercargill - for non-NZ'ers that's a 17 hour round trip from where I am.

DrewNJ and Bformla - did look at some options like flush fit but need to keep the Spyder looking legal. I'm doing a couple of endurance events this year and there normally cops around at the start of these making sure the bikes are road legal. The only reason I'm fitting the pannier racks is so I can carry extra petrol cans - you can go a very long way at night here without finding a petrol station that's open, certainly further than a Spyder can travel on a tankful:-)

Found it was going to take a bit of time to get the one's Colin suggested so being impatient I thought I'd risk getting some cheap aftermarket led ones and if the didn't work or upset nanny I'd wait for the proper ones.

The ones I got are pretty small but are extremely bright - brighter than the standard ones. About the only tidy place I could find to mount them was off the rear mudguard (fender). I removed the side reflectors and mounted them there. With the reflectors removed there is a nice flat surface to mount on and if I want to remove them later I can cover up the hole by sticking some reflectors back on. It also meant the wiring could be hidden away, the way the mounts in the Givi set worked the wiring would have been on show.

A little lower than I would have liked but is high enough to be legal. I may latter add a flush fit higher up to cover the holes where the originals as they wouldn't interfere with the pannier rack and would be visible from behind even when panniers fitted.
