There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Has anyone heard of a 2010 RT blowing up

I completely disagree with you PMK... I mean, if there was ANY evidence or past experience with heat issues or Spyder's catching on fire, I would... oh.... wait a minute.

Anyway, OP isn't saying the bike got hot after sitting for days and then spontaneously combusted. It could have been anything... a critter chewed a gas line/brake line, bad battery cell, the Illuminate.

Sorry for your loss jrs4220.

burned out spyder on ebay

dont know the conditions/reason for the burn-out, but a salvage yard up north has one about that timeframe that caught fire. starting bid was 0.99 but bidders had to have a $500 non-refundable deposit.

What's to disagree with...giving the benefit of doubt to the OP and Fire Marshall. Point is, we are typing away, and have seen nothing, whether photo or in person.

I too find it odd that a cold Spyder would ignite, could it happen, sure, was it a mouse, maybe. But at least give the OP a little bit of kindness.

Reading this topic is a reminder of old woman gossiping while they knit or quilt.

I honestly have no idea why it burned. All we know is it burned the guys place to the ground.

That was a joke. I'm actually agreeing with you. Guess it didn't translate well.

Well; I'm blaiming the golfcart! :gaah:
We all know that golfers lie anyway! :roflblack:

All I can say is that when Bush was President... we didn't have Spyder fires and garages blowing up. Thanks *****!! :roflblack:

Edit: It's funnier after I read it... because it bleep out our President's name.

:yikes: Egads!! :yikes:
If there's a bright side to any of this nightmare; you don't have to fight with anybody over the question of this being a total loss, or not...

I must say, that I read this topic last night and was kind of stunned at the brand loyalty and insinuations towards the fire marshall.

Even if the Spyder sat for a week, why is it so difficult to believe it could catch fire and burn? A car, a boat, a computer or even a cell phone can ignite with poor situations. May not be common but it is possible.

If the OP is messing with people that is one thing, but myself, I would be a bit irritated to learn about my loss of garage, vehicles and items and then have this place preach to me it could not be the Spyder, when their burn to the ground history is documented. Granted the situation of heat is different.

You guys are pretty tough, I expected next you would just come out and accuse the op of setting fire to his place.

I have not been on SL too long. Posts like this on any forum prove how cruel or even wrong the keyboard is.

I hope this is not a joke post, and would suggest some go ack and re read their replies, then consider walking in the OP's shoes for the trip to see a burned garage.

Sheesshh, tough crowd.

Your kidding, right? I am suggesting that you go back and read the comments. Be careful sitting at your desk though, your chair and computer might spontaneously combust.

No one ran down the OP. No one preached to him. We did question the ruling of the fire marshal. Who wouldn't?

The possibilities have been discussed based on the information given.

Yeah, sort of.

The guy asked if we had heard of Spyders blowing up. Without doubt there was a fire. Reading about the Fire Marshall smokin dope and such seemed a bit much.

As for my computer and chair, I hope not, I really like them.

After seeing the photo, I would be pretty bummed out. Hopefully it gets resolved fair and quick for the OP.

They might actually be able to learn something from the char patterns on the VW...

Honestly, I do not know. Certainly seemed intense.

I would be going nuts without the garage and toys...especially losing all sorts of tools.

:agree: Hopefully, the insurance settlement comes through fair, square, and fast. That is a lot of stuff to go up in smoke. :yikes:

I've kind of learned a little bit about this over the years... :opps:
There looks to be enough of it left, to make it worth a REAL close look...
They might be able to tell from which direction the fire hit it...

Just Sayin,' Let's Look On the Brite Side

Thank God it was a detached garage. The OP has lost a lot of property. It will be months before the insurance settles. Too many questions as to the true cause of the fire have to be answered, regardless of what the FM said. As someone said "the burn pattern will reveal all".
Let me join those who have already said "sorry for your loss" Personally, I would be beside myself if I were in your shoes.
Best of luck to you

Wow..... sometimes I cannot believe what goes on in posts here.... Is there any post that stays on topic or doesn't get stuffed full of banter?

I've never heard of a 2010 catching fire. We all have seen the pictures of Spyders burning or the remains of those that have burned. There is nothing left. That's because most of the Spyder is plastic resulting in a very intense, fast moving fire. In that respect, and looking from an investigators standpoint, I can see where the fire marshal might get his findings. However, I would have an independent investigation done by a forensic fire investigator. There are a number of fire reports under review now due to investigators using old procedures.

I had a friend who was burning a pile of brush behind his shed and after it was out, the shed burnt three days later! It was determined that a smoking root from a tree had caught the shed on fire! So I would not discount anything, fire is a weird phenomenon! I just wish the OP a quick and satisfactory solution, speaking from experience it is not fun losing stuff in a fire as something's are unreplaceable!nojoke
