• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Still not revving high enough!

I just picked up my '12 RT from servicing at 24,000 miles (767.21 hours) and found I had exceeded the rev limit. My top end recorded as revealed by BUDS was 9520 RPM.

That wasn't why the service manager yelled at me though. She was unhappy with the RPM profile showing that 39.87% of the engine life has been between 2000 and 3999 versus 37.43% between 4000-5999.

I thought I was doing real good at keeping the revs up but I guess I have been moving it up to 4th gear too often. Comparing my record to my wife's RT I find that she stays in third gear a whole lot more than I do.

The service manager also mentioned as an aside that if the clutch on my RTSE ever has to be replaced, BRP will look at the BUDS profile to see the engine speed report. If it shows the majority of the time spent in the under 4000 range it is quite likely they will deny the warranty claim.

I just need to change my driving habits a bit or move to the 2014 model. I think it will be cheaper to stay in lower gears longer.

I was depressed at my BUDs report too... I always up shift at 5.5K or above! However being in rush hour trafic I tend to downshift late I guess. I try to down shift just above 4K but not always if I see ahead that traffic is speeding back up. So I tend to time that. Thus my report showed 40% at 4K or lower! :banghead:

But I did not get yelled at as I have a SM5 so no SE5 clutch system to eat up :yes::yes:

Don't forget idling and take off are included in those readings. That will skew it lower. Let alone the low downshift points. If you want to keep the RPMs up run in trailer mode it won't let me shift till above 4k and downshifts at the same point. That is why in another thread I said the clutch is not fully locked up till 4k and had people argue it was at 3500. If BRP sets trailer mode at 4k that should tell you something. I generally run at a hair above 5k and shift a hair above 6k which will drop the next gear in at 5k.

Little checking..!!

the many posts and threads mentioning that your clutch is not fully engaged until your over 3,500 rpm's. This is on all se5 models. And running at a higher rpm will help your mileage. Throttle up or drop a gear..have fun it will not blow up...:roflblack::roflblack:
