• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

New Owner 2014 RT S SE6 - New Member - Key Issue

Just took delivery of a new 2014 RT S SE6 last Friday. Traded in 2 wheels for 3 for a variety of reasons, and benefitted from the abundance of good information on this forum in making my decision...thank you all. My wife and I love the RT and are looking forward to traveling and knocking around on it for some time to come. As it sometimes goes, however, we've had an issue right out of the box. After pulling the RT out of the garage yesterday and removing the key, it would not go back in all the way when I tried to start it again. Tried the spare key with the same result. The key isn' t dropping down all of the way into the tumbler/ignition, and as the result nothing is operational. The dealer is on this issue and taking care of it (replacing parts and keys), but I thought I'd put the information out there for informational purposes since they said they'd seen it before.

MEP, thanks for the info......I have had my 2014 Spyder RT-S SE6 for about a month and have not had that problem and have not seen any other post to that information....I have had a problem with starting my Spyder however. We had made our "first" road trip of about 160 miles and had stoped for lunch, I ALWAYS put my Spyder in neutral when I exit my bike, when we finished eating (approx 45 minutes) went out to leave and it would not start....message board showed it being in 1st gear. After trying to move the bike and pressing the down shift button, doing everything we could think of to get it in netural so it would start. Anyway to make story as short as possible, I ended up pulling the 40 amp main fuse to check if it was blown, it wasn't, put it back in and then it started. Hwen I took it m
Back to the dealer, they said it was a bad sensor reading on the transmission sensor. They did up-dates on my computer and so far no more problems!!!!! We love riding our Spyder and are looking foward to MANY fun filled trips!!

Was your ike's V.I.N. listed as one of the ones affected by the T.S.B.? :dontknow:

I don't know, Bob. I haven't seen the particulars of the bulletin myself, as the thread that I found was essentially a summary post by a member with the same problem (in June, if I recall correctly). I will talk in more detail to our dealer when I pick it up.

I found th elist for you...

Again these are key tags not Vin #'s. Let us know if we at Route 1 can be of any help!

Thank you. I sent the keys and key tag with the bike when it was picked up this morning. I'm getting a little old but I am almost positive that the tag number I am recalling (I didn't write it down) is on that list. In any event, I am confident that the dealer will square things up.

If you want ot scare him a little bit; send him a copy of the list...
But don't tell him where it came from! :D

He'll know for sure to not try pulling any wool over your eyes!

I have confirmed that my key tag number is on the list. I have a long standing (10 bikes over the years with all of the associated service and accessories) relationship with my dealer, so I don't need to scare them. I will, however, have a conversation with them about why that unit rolled out of there last Friday without having been fixed beforehand. I believe that they will respond to this situation appropriately, and will work harder to make sure that it doesn't repeat itself with me or other customers.

Does this apply to ST's as well? My key tag is on that list but I have a 2014 ST, not an RT.

:dontknow: I don't know...
This was all originally posted in the 1330 section.
You might want to give a call to your dealer; they'd know for sure!

Update...our dealer has the replacement parts in hand and the bike should be ready this afternoon. I am also satsified with their explanation concerning this issue. Thanks everyone for the welcome, and for the information.
