• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Newbie spyder owner here question on bajarons swaybar

I have a new 2014 rt limited my question is on installing the new sway bar.Ive read all of the posts and watched the videos on installing the sway bar but it seems that all of them were pre 2014 is there alot of difference on installing on the new spyders?Any advice would greatly be appreciated. This is a wonderful site looking forward to getting to know you guys and gals.

I appreciate the BajaRon sway bar most riding two-up, towing, two-up and towing, etc... If riding solo only, for my type of riding, an aftermarket sway bar wouldn't be necessary. (Leisure / touring) Since my riding includes two-up and towing, the BajaRon sway bar is a must.

It's my understanding that the 2013 and 2014 sway bar installations are identical.

The 2013 and 14's are the same. The difference with them and the 2010-2012 is the sway bar is now in a channel in the frame and thus the front of the Spyder has to be jacked up much higher. You probably watched my install video? Putting it on ramps like my video is not high enough to get the bar out of the channel on a 13/14. Other than that, it's somewhat similar to install e.g. the brackets and the heim link bolts.

One thing I can tell you is that you have to jack that Spyder up a lot higher that I imagined, lol! But it's worth it; you'll notice the difference immediately. The bar comes with instructions :)

Be sure to go to Facebook and check out Carolina Spyder Ryders and there's another group for ryders in western nc. We are ryding Sunday morning, if you would like to join us.

Here's the thing..!!

you really need to determine if you need to change the swaybar. Your roadster came with an upgraded bar which still falls short compared to the BajaRon bar but better. If your ryding is more relaxed touring you may be fine but like mentioned double up towing semi agressive etc it helps a lot. The instructions are very good and the only issue is how high you have to be to install it (the spyder that is..:roflblack:) either way you will have a world of fun..!!

I could tell the difference on the first turn I made on my 2014. I had one on my 2010 and 2013 also. My husband has installed several and after doing so we finally have the install process down pretty good. We also have the right equipment to make the job a little easier. A pair of 12-ton 30" jack stands, a pair of normal height jack stands, a Craftsman Aluminum Motorcycle/ATV Jack with extensions is what we use.

Without the extensions on the jack you need to raise up the Spyder to a comfortable height, install your normal jack stands and remove the jack. Place the extensions on the jack and raise it so the A-arms are 24" up and place the heavy duty stands. Then start removing all of the panels as per the directions. Install the bar and reverse the process with the jacks.

The first two we installed on 2013/2014 were very scary using standard jack stands and a variety of items to get the necessary height. Now that we have the proper tools it is easier and a lot safer. And someday if we do enough bar installs we will pay for the equipment. :banghead:

Let me just throw this out into the pit... ;)

I'm a firm believer in Ron and his products. :2thumbs:
My 2010 RT had his bar, end-links and plugwires installed, and they all performed marvelously! nojoke
But... I'm still on the fence about the bar and my 2014...
And it frustrates me! :gaah:
Here's why...
In the (Only) 2800 miles that I've been able to log so far; I only found one instance where having more bar up front, would have helped me get through a turn better...
Now; I don't push my bike, and I never test my own meager limits.
The choice is yours to make, and your money to spend... Happy Shopping!

Bob, the very first turn I made with it on my 2014 I could tell the difference. No more roll. Get off the fence and ask the Missus for permission to buy one.

This one really isn't about getting The Missus to loosen the purse strings...(At least that's whai I keep telling myself...)
I honestly don't mind a bit of roll; I use it as my "curb feeler", to let me know that the outside tire is taking some more poundage on it.
When I added the Elkas to Faekes; I reduced the preload in an attempt to get a little bit of roll...
Without any roll at all; I felt as if some feedback was missing from the equation.
As I've said before; Ron's products are the best...
I really just wish that I could feel more 'need" for it for me. :banghead:

Do you know how lucky we are to have so many good vendors??
Ron, Reggy, Harvey... These guys, and a whole lot more in here... make other folks jealous! nojoke
