• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

New Guy here.......Just bought my first Spyder a 2013 RT Limited leftover about three weeks ago and my wife and I love it... We are taking it in for our 600 mi oil change this weekend. You have probably heard this question a million times, but which communications package is best the bluetooth or the CB package?

:congrats::welcome::ohyea: Get a hold of Dave here on the sponsors board. SENA is the way to go for communications. Tom :trike:

Preference is the key

Good morning Commander. Retired Navy Chief here. You are sure to find a million and one different answers to this particular question. One thing to remember, most will be based on personal preference. Whereas my wife and I use the Sena Bluetooth system, one of our fellow Spyder Ryders uses the wired CB system thingy and swears by it. To each his own. BLUF, it's all up to you. Both wired and bluetooth systems work well. It's all a matter of personal preference. At any rate, welcome to the party!! If you haven't noticed, this place is holds a wealth of great information! And besides, there are also some wonderful people on here, as well. Have fun with the new ryde!!!

Thanks Chief, your answer is what I am looking for right now.....I'm an old VietNam Vet and the title Commander is because was just elected as a District Commander for the VFW in New Jersey.

Well Earned

Glad I could steer you in the right direction. Not to stray from the subject, but one of my good friends is a District Commander for the VFW in Tennessee.

We have a Sena set and are very happy. Great for GPS, intercom, music, phone calls. Easy to install abou . $180 on Amazon.

Old school CB for me, U have to push to talk, so no VOX wind or unwanted signals, longer range for two or more bikes, unlimited number of CB's in your group, and you get all the road info from other driver's (Truckers..etc.

We tried Bluetooth, the voice activation was always coming on due to wind noise or someone just yelling about nothing (within our group), which caused alarm until you found out it was nothing. Limited number to pair your headset with, but I am a big believer in PUSH TO TALK, keeps out all the crap from going on air. In our Bluetooth group we had a gal that was always yelling at someone or something and she couldn't or wouldn't keep quiet and didn't care if we all heard her constant yelling, but the big problem was that when out of the blue you would hear "LOOK OUT" or "WATCH IT" or what ever she felt like saying and we all would be looking around to see if there was any problem. So the group went back to the CB, so she can talk to herself all she wants, unless she wants to communicate then she has to push to talk.

I can get up to five miles range with my CB, helps if a rider takes a wrong turn, can't get that range on Bluetooth.

Welcome..!! Welcome..!!

to both the roadster world and this site. Congrats on the new ryde..!! :2thumbs: we use tge scala G9's and are very happy with them. Can't comment on the others never tried them...

We have the Sena headsets and they are great for bike to bike. We stream music from our smart phones as well. You can set them for VOX but we have them set for push to talk. We can just leave the talk on in town or a scenic area and comment or chat as much as we want. Sena just an update so you can pair with other manufacturers headsets. We haven't tried this out yet. Motorcycle Dave will give you a great price. I'm a trucker and don't like CB's because of the static and profane chatter. You can research the headsets here: http://www.revzilla.com/sena-bluetooth-communications

:welcome: and :congrats: on your new ryde.

Another vote for Sena here also. I don't like being plugged into the :spyder2:, so it's "wire free" for me.
