There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. I hacked the big round plug off and am wiring a couple of 3 tower weather packs on to effectively make it a 6. Don't need 7 as I see no need to have a left brake and right brake so those will be wired together. Our Spyders and truck will have matching plugs so we can pull it with whatever we want. I'm using relays in the trailer instead of an isolator on each vehicle mainly because it will be cheaper and not that hard to do.

No you do not need that. You need a $5 - 4 pin square plug. Search on trailer wiring and you will find a thread where Nancy's Toy explains in detail how to do this. My husband just changed my 2010 trailer to work with my 2014 RT. Dealer sold us $300 + of plugs and wires that we did not need. The $5 part and Nancy's Toys instructions were all we needed. One note is that your yellow turn signal lights will not longer function, instead the red brake lights will flash for turn signals.

Here is the link to the thread: http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/...2-trailer-to-2012-RT&highlight=wiring+trailer

You could use it, but the connector at the trailer end of the tongue won't match, so you would have to buy some new connectors and change it. Easier and cheaper to buy a square-4 pigtail and replace the round-9 on your trailer or splice it in and have both. Keep in mind that the 2010 RT-622 was a 5-wire (actually 6-wire) system. Use with the later hitch/harness will make the separate turn signals no longer function...just like the later trailers. You will have some extra wires. Best to connect things temporarily and test...or PM me and we can take an educated guess at the wire colors.

I have the wire colors for the 2010 rt622 mapped out at home. I will post later when we get back from ryding. We stopped for a burger at one of the joints in a small town in our area.

There are 2 different color sets. The cable with the round plug has one set and inside the trailer is the other. Funny thing on our trailer is that under the very front right side is where the 2 harnesses join and the one has a sticky flag on it that lists the pin out.

i would imagine this is the hitch and plug for my new bike x1_d24b352b5f3d49a943187d50248d6a10.jpg$_57.jpg
i will know by tomorrow when the bike get here but to me it looks like the hitch plug is a female and the trailer harness is a male am ii correct scotty or am i wrong ?

All trailer connections are female at the vehicle and male at the trailer (except for the ground) to prevent accidental short circuits.

another ? can you key the lock cylinder on the RT-622 to use the ignition key ?
Your RT (or ST) should come with an extra lock cylinder that is keyed the same. Your dealer can intall it in your trailer.

I have the 2012 RT and 2010 RT622 Your welcome to come over and look at the set up. I wired the separate turn signals into the brake turn lights, just doubles up on the lights. I also picked up a roll of white led's on eBay and ran all around the inner lip of the trailer, that way at night you can see every nook and granny of the trailer. Connected them on a 4 channel remote and since I had 3 channels spare I wired the reverse lights into one of the channels. Again don't use them all the time but handy if backing up at night in a dark hotel parking lot.

Got hung up last night but here are the wire colors in the harness and in the trailer:

Wire Harness (stock 2010 round plug)
Position Color Function
1 Black Ground
2 Brown Strangely Labeled as "Position" but is Tail/Running
3 Red Right Brake
4 Orange Left Brake
5 Yellow Back-up
6 Green Right Flasher
7 Blue Left Flasher
8 Null Null

Trailer (2010)
Position Color Function
1 Black Ground
2 Orange Tail/Running
3 White Right Brake
4 White/Blue Stripe Left Brake
5 Pink/Yellow Stripe Back-up
6 Brown/Yellow Stripe Right Flasher
7 Gray/Pink Stripe Left Flasher
8 Null Null

If you get creative and don't use the Cam Am harness, you can wire it to retain the amber flashers and if you switch out the bulbs to clear, you can enable the back up lights.

I am the type that if the bulb is there, it should be used for it's proper function, not just sit there and not be used. I am waiting for some wire and relays to be delivered and will post pics when I get mine finished.

Hopkins makes a square-4 pigtail, and probably others do too. They are not usually available in the big box store trailer departments, but Auto parts stores (especially NAPA), a good trailer shop, tractor supply, or RV store will likely have one...or order online form any trailer supplier.

Another ? Please what kind of fuel mileage do you get pulling the RT-622.

Obviously depending on riding style, trailer load or two up etc, I average around 28-29, lowest I've had is 25, highest 33. However the convenience of the trailer out weighs the small drop in fuel economy. I tend to take it most places especially if the wife is on board. Don't take it to Laconia during bike week as it's far too crowded and figured it would just get in the way.

really nice to just pop the lid and drop off helmets and riding gear, wife will change into walking shoes etc.
