• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Factory update for 2014's

In my search for a '14 RT, I contacted a local dealer who has one in the pipeline. He called BRP to get an ETA to his shop and found out that the factory is telling dealers to perform the "updates" before selling any '14 Can Am RT's on their floor. It is not a recall, it is an "update" only. Sold RT '14's will be notified to come in for the "update" as soon as possible. The dealer could not find out what the "update" was.

That makes sense why I might be having a hard time finding what I was looking for.

T.S.B. 2014-2; discusses replacing ignition switches in affected bikes... :dontknow:
I haven't heard of any others... yet!

I called the dealer back and placed a deposit on the RT  It sounds like it will not ship for at least 4 weeks (maybe more), and the dealership is waiting to hear back from BRP about what's going on.

Arrrrrrrrrrggggggggg :yikes::yikes::yikes: if production is held up another four weeks. I am glad to hear that BRP is now pro-active on making sure the new Spyders leave the factory in perfect condition.

The downside: people have to wait another month or so for :ani29:'s not already in the pipeline.

The upside: The :spyder2:'s will be arriving so late in the season that maybe they will be subject to deep discounts and closeout special sale prices. It is getting a little late for early season 'take it or leave it' pricing. IMO--of course. :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

LOL akspyderman. I've already decided that if it takes too long, I'll switch the refundable deposit to a 2015 :D

So how could the dealer do the update if BRP won't divulge what it is?

Please, don't ask too many questions. Just have a seat in the waiting room and relax! This won't take long.... and you won't feel a thing.

Your idea is a very good one. I would recommend that for any and all who are going to put down a deposit and are now waiting for their :spyder2: to arrive at a date unknown. :2thumbs::2thumbs::2thumbs:

ignition switch and rear trunk lock

thats what my dealer told me this morning...

all 2014's...

We have heard a few posts mentioning sticking keys, etc. So that sounds like good information.

A little bit of information does go a long way, and prevents nasty speculation.

I don't remember hearing about trunk lock difficulties--but good to solve now, if there is an issue.

I will say again: I am happy that BRP has become pro-active on solving problems. That is great news for the product.
