• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Spelling check

I was wondering about something while I was writing a post. Since we spell "ryding" and of course "Spyder". Then why does the spell check on "Spyderlovers" say it is spelled wrong? I know in my Microsoft word program I added these spellings to my dictionary so it would think I spelled it right.

Just tried it on mine and no spellcheck needed.

Actually shows that "spellcheck" is wrong. roflmao

You misspelled spelled, you wrote spelt, unless that is a euphemism of sorts. :roflblack::roflblack:

It isn't Spyderlovers that says it is wrong. It's the browser you are using that does so. If you use Firefox it automatically does spell check on any text box of more than one line. When you see the squiggly red underline right click on the word and add it to your dictionary.

Say what?

I don’t profess to be the grammar and/or spelling police but it’s obvious that lots of people on here either don’t use or don’t have spell check on their computers. Sometimes it’s painful to read the posts.

But, I do love this forum!

It's a "computer"-thing; not a "site"-thing... :D
I never like using the Missus' I-Pad; it never grows tired of trying to tell me what I mean to say! :banghead:

Depending on your system there maybe 2 spell checkers available to you.
One uses the built in spell checker (MS Office is installed) and your using IE 11 browser.

The other way is you installed the "Web Add-on" spell checker that Lamont's site allows use of. When writing a post if you use the button on the editor at the top [ABC] with the green check box, that is a Web spell checker add-on you installed to your browser.

Both of these allow you to add words to your dictionary. Once you do, it wont show as misspelt ;)

Glass half full or half empty??? :dontknow::dontknow:

Cruzr Joe (almost retired 3 more work days)

Half of what?!?!
3 more and a wake up? That should have happened a loooooong time ago! (Note: working on IE10 and it shows looooong being misspelled!

I did not know that I could add "weird" words to the dictionary to avoid the spell check warnings. That is good information.

I don't care about spelling and syntax. The most important is we understand each other. Communication is best no matter what and how it's delivered.

But then if we do it right , spelling and syntax we learn for to emulate.

Lets have fun and ride safe, God Bless us All.:yes::yes::yes:

????????????? :hun::hun:

The first and third sentences conflict with each other. Best communication depends heavily on correct spelling, syntax, and additionally, grammar. That contributes mightily to achieving the goal of the second sentence, with which I wholeheartedly agree.

Fixed, but why did my spell check not fix that:hun:

I use spell check heavily, and still mess up:roflblack:

The spell check is local to your computer and not part of the Spyderlover's site.
Unless Lamont says it is, which means I'm wrong.

I see, it is my computer. Time for an upgrade
