• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Stopping people from messing with your spyder

Interesting thread

I like the seat cover idea as well as the alarms. I might buy a few of those alarms... one for the machine, one for my front door, and one for my mother's door

I looked out my showroom window once and saw some young father with his small child in his arms kicking as he attempted to place the child on my BMW. I got outside just in time to see the child kick the tank and seat.. I said get your kid ff my bike.. it costs more than 25¢ to ride this ride. Young father looked pained, said I didn't think it would matter, as he lifted child off my motorcycle as the kid kicked it one last time..had to do a little rubbing to get the scuff marks off

Yes, I don't get it either.

At the local CanAm shop, they have signs on the seats that say DO NOT SIT ON THIS

I've found (caught) a few sitting on my Spyder, asked them where their car is, walked over and sat either in their car or on the hood. Even had to explain why to one idiot.

I have the scorpion alarm with motion sensor, it was expensive, but then again so is the Spyder? One thing I never skimp on is security! House or toys! And remember we are not allow the security systems you guys in the US are :doorag: here in Canada!

Yes, it is a Spydersisters sunshade . . . it folds up small and has it's own, self-contained, storage bag. It fits over the handlebars and covers the entire seat. It discourages folks from sitting on your Spyder, and also keeps your seat at ambient temperature on a hot, sunny day, because it is shaded. I love mine. http://spydersisters.com/Pockets.html here is a photo from their web page View attachment 85285

There you go! :2thumbs: And it even provides other benefits when the weather is really pouring the temperatures to all of the parked vehicles!
Thanks for the link!

I've got the Gorilla alarm with the two-way pager. When the alarm goes off it sends me a signal letting me know someone has just crapped their pants. :roflblack: I keep the alarm in the loudest multi-tone mode and it will trigger if you grab the handlebars.

Then the odd thing

I caught some young kid sitting in mine one time , playing with all the buttons until he found the horn . Fo get bout it . Brat kept playing with the horn until I almost kicked hime off it. I always wondered why the horn works when the unit off off .

It's a safety feature, the horn, emergency flashers, and brake light will work even with everything off on most if not all vehicles.

So you can disarm remotely from a ways away?

Lamont has the answer

Yup! they're on EBay, and that's a great way to keep the curious off of your bike!

I don't like signs that stay "Keep Off"... it might just provoke a response that turns out to be far worse...

Lamont has the answer. He has or had some placards printed that had a big ugly spider an "Don't mess with my Spyder" printed on them. They just fit the useless safety card pull out.

I'm with you Netminder, the Scorpio was my first add on and worth every penny. It chirps when someone gets close and if touched will send an alarm to the remote as the lights flash and the horn blows. Wonder what advantage an Air Horn would have.

I hear what you're saying, but I think that one might be a bit self defeating, as too many like a challenge! LOL!

Personally; I leave a several large, tough looking hamsters on the seat whenever I park it. They're all Rodent Gangster Disciples members, and got the tats, do rags, and Glock 40s to prove they mean business! Seems to have worked so far!

If that's not your thing....................have you considered a trunk monkey?

That's my kinda vehicle tampering prevention!

Trunk monkey's! It has been several years since I have seen any of the videos (there are several) but I remember laughing so hard I hurt and had tears running down my cheeks:)

Trunk Monkeys an be VERY effective :2thumbs:... However; unless you let them keep what they catch, they'll require feeding...

Thanks. Just ordered one. :spyder: Tom :trike:

I have a Scorpio i900 alarm with a perimeter sensor. Works great. It chirps if some one gets within two feet. If they don't back off, the alarm goes off and it alerts the remote. The remote will receive a signal up to a 1/4 mile.

Anybody do this:
install a push button switch under the seat
activation starts a tape recorder playback located under the seat
volume turned way up
gruff voice insults and orders the kid off the Spyder
???????

I think we all need to remember Al Capone's Rule: You can accomplish so much more with a kind word and a Smith & Wesson than with a kind word alone.

Odd

Nobody tries to sit on my Harley!
Simply yell"Stop, Thief!", and detain the criminal until the police arrive. Then press charges on grand theft auto. If you found a person in your car, behind the wheel, you would think they were stealing your car. Same logic applies! Trying the switch, pushing the buttons - felony in progress! Call911!
just foolin'
shoot 'em!
