• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

EBAY UK SCAM?

Hi guys, just spoken to a Spyder owner in the UK who sold his ST 2011 last month on ebay, being a regular on ebay uk I noticed today that his ex spyder was again up for sale but at a vast reduction in asking price. So I contacted the original seller who said he sold the spyder to a guy from the other side of the country and this sale was a scam. So be warned , we know how much these spyders sell for, if you see a stupid asking price it's more likely a scam. This spyder sold for over £10K buy it now £6K SCAM

Interesting..!!

ebay is pretty good about this kind of stuff. I have had deals where they shut the deal down. They also offer insurance against these scams. But there are those who will always try...:gaah:

Some girl in San Jose, about 400 miles North of me, tried to sell me a 2012 RT for $4,000. When I told her that I would bring case, and pay her when I picked up the Spyder, she said it was already sold. Scam.

Scams still happen on Ebay and these are the same type of scammer as the 411 scams.
What they do is wait for a Ebay auction to end and about 2 weeks later they steal the pictures and post a fake auction!

So be aware Ebay is NOT scam proof! One thing to watch and judge by is reputation and amount of sales. Even then that can be faked by friends that buy his auctions (that don't really exist) and give positive feedback! YES they do this and then after selling small stuff go for a big item like a Spyder or something. Basically they "setup the con"....

I once sold an RC helicopter on Ebay and 2 weeks later someone told me it was up for sale again. I contacted the buyer and he told me he was not selling it. It was a scam! The seller had 10 or so positive feedback on other items. Clearly all faked!

Then craigslist can be a scam too! They do the same thing. Take pictures from someone's old ad and sell it.

Then you have to watch out for buyer scams! That is a buyer that is too good to be true.
They tell you, Hey I want to buy your item but I am out of the country.
They tell you they will send double, triple or even more over your price if you ship it to them and they say they "trust you" to return the excess money.
They say they will pay you with a cashiers check too! Sounds great right?
WRONG..... You go to the bank and deposit the check and the bank says all is good.....
You ship your item and then paypal them or send a check for the remaining cash.
Weeks later the bank tells you the cashiers check was no good!
You lost your item and the cash you paid out for the difference.
A cashiers check is NOT 100% guarantee!

So be aware of the scams out there. MILLIONS get scammed every year!

You've just got to stay on your toes...
Thanks for the heads-up, on this one!
I would be leery of any ad for any motorcycle on eBay. Several years ago I sent a seller a question about a Goldwing he was advertising. The next day my eBay account was hacked. Fortunately my PayPal account had a different password or who knows how much I might have lost!:yikes:
