Balancing

So I purchased a set of wheels from a fellow SpyderLover here and I was able to get my tires mounted to the new wheels but they were unable to balance them for me yesterday because of the balance machine they have. Soooo I order (2) 16oz bottles of Ride on. Should this be sufficent for balancing the two front tires. I have read that many of you have put 13oz's in each front tire, I love the idea of the puncture guard either way. What are your thoughts? finding a place to balance the tire traditionally has become difficult for me. Thanks for your input.

Somebody once mentioned, that the wheels on the Smart Cars are pretty darn similar to ours...
Perhaps if a shop has the wheel adapter for them??? :dontknow:

Before you put any of that stuff in your tires ................ take them to almost any tire shop and get them balanced. or they will never be right. Put the ride on in if you desire, but get them balanced first.

RideOn in the UK comes with instructions about how much to squirt into your tires based on width and diameter. It's in table format so you just look up the size of tire and read off the quantity needed. Takes away the guesswork. ;)

I used Ride On in my 2010 RT and threw away the wheel weights. After only one day of riding the ride smoothed out while balancing the tires
perfectly.. They had 25000 miles on them when i got my 2012.

Your probably thinking of me Bob. When I bought your RT wheels I went to a few tire shops and nobody wanted to touch them once they heard what they were for. Then at the last shop the guy said they looked like wheels off a smart car. I just nodded and they balanced them up with no issues.

Personally, I'd rather have my tires balanced than run anything like ride on. But that's just me.....

Balancing..!!

have to agree with drew...I rather have them balanced than fill them with stuff. There are a lot of products that you can use. Have worked in the recap industry and done more than my share of motorcycle/ATV tire work. Would rather bubble balance if you can find no one. If your a tourer traveling mostly freeways it will work fine otherwise balance them the traditional way...jmo..

Most tire shops will not take the tires off and balance them, you will have to take the tires off and carry them to the tire shop.

This is actually what I did. They tried to balance them but they couldnt. so I took the Just the wheels to another tire shop in town and they wouldn't do it because they were afraid that it would scrape the wheels up.

I would say that 75% of my rides are on highways and interstates.. thanks for your advice

Have any of you used Dynabeads? I use them on the 2 wheeler and wonder if anyone runs them on their Spyder?

I took mine off and took them to Walmart. I had ordered my new tires from them. They mounted and balanced them no problems. I remember him looking for an adapter that would work. Everything is smooth now.

It was an NTB in DE that eventually balanced mine and I have nothing but good things to say about those guys.

Some guys used to run Dyna beads, BB's and even golf balls in their mainly off road jeeps with varying degrees of success.
I'd pass....

The reason I asked was because I thought I remembered seeing where people had taken the weights off there tires once ride on was put in the tire. thanks again guys

Adapter size

Most of the wheel shops don't have the correct size adapter in-order to balance it.

I went to a motorcycle shop and they had no problem balancing them, the only problem they stuck the weights on the wheels without cleaning the location from the brakes dust, the weights never made it home.

:agree::agree::agree: My dealer screwed mine up by taking the weights off and then putting balancing beads in the tires. The natural out-of-balance condition was so bad that the beads could not make up the difference. To this day, I have not been able to get them balanced as well as they were before the beads plus, I had to take the beads out in order to get a proper dynamic balance done.

Outdated balancing equipment is why they could not balance them, I have no problems doing the front wheels on my machine but the rear still has to be done on a static balancer.
