There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. 2014 Spyder RT-S SE6 First day 250 mile ryde report

Update: March 1st, First month: With 2100+ miles, awesome torque, motor broke in, runs strong, quiet, smooth power, a real pleasure to ryde!!!
Gas mileage 32-37 mpg; 175+ miles per tank.
Water temp analog gauge failed. Disconnected analog fuel & water temp gauges.
Using vertical digital bars, seem more accurate. But digital bars gas level changes from orange to white during daytime, once in awhile, cluster sensor problem.
Awesome motor-quiet, smooth, powerful torque from idle on up rpms; motor sweet spot 2500-4000 rpm; 5,000-6,500 rpm very powerful; 3900 rpm is 75 mph!!!
Awesome SE6 trans smooth shifting, seamless!!!
Very good stock suspension-shock springs stiffer/firm dampening (a 30 mph posted corner taken at 65 mph-no nanny!!
Very stable on freeway-feels planted, no moving around passing trucks.
Update: Put on my stage 5 Elka front shocks, 325# Eibach springs, RT is even more stable in corners!!!
Update: Put on my modified Russell seat (10 times more comfortable than modified stock seat, in my opinion).
BRP vented windshield put on, big improvement of air flow to mid section.
(Note: this 2014 Pearl White RT-S SE6 ryde was in comparison of 32,000 miles on 2011 RT-S SE5 & 2013 RT-S SE5 with Elka shocks)!
So, what are you waiting for?
Run-don't walk to buy 2014 Spyder RT-S/L SE6 or SM6; they are that big of improvement over previous RT's (Len at Pitbull is waiting your call for order)!!!!
I can see how Doc in Florida has 6000 miles + already, you just don't want to get off!!!!
Hope this helps everyone with my hands on info in first month.
We can all thank Lamont, Fred and others for their honest accurate input to BRP to build the 2014 RT in-line Triple 1330 awesome motor-SE6 trans, longer fuel range!!!!
Thanks BRP company-you have built a winner in my humble opinion!!!!
Enjoy your rydes.

Nice review..!!

thanks for keeping us up to date on the 2014's. From the many like yourself we are seeing all good things...let us know as you put on the miles...:ohyea::ohyea:

Sweeeeeeet!

That is one sweet ride you have there, Jim! And a great review first review. I'm really happy you were able to get your hands on the beast that you wanted so quickly. And thanks for letting me take it for a ride with only 3 miles on it. I can't believe how quiet and smooth it was. Sounded like a kitten purring...or should I say a COUGAR!

Happy riding to you

Thanks for the update!

:congrats:Congrats on your 2014! We received our 2014 RT Limited last week delivered to our home! :2thumbs: However, with this "polar vortex" weather in cold :cus: Minnesnowta, I have not been able to ride it except from the delivery trailer into my garage....I have "zero" miles on this beauty!! :banghead::banghead::banghead:

Thanks again for sharing your experience so I know what to look forward to!!:yes::ohyea:
(too bad about the small oil leak - you would think BRP could have had that fixed before it hit the field :yikes:)

Congratulations Jim! Great write up. I still want to know when you're going to start tearing into it for modifications as I KNOW you can't resist :)

Great to Hear No Major Issues

Just minor ones like the oil leaks and the frunk switch, no big deal breakers which is great. Time will tell but it looks like the 2014 could very well be BRP's best effort yet. Thanks for the report!!

Interesting info about build date and serial nr. Mine is identical to yours: White, RTSE6, built 12/20/13 (according to sticker under the seat) but my serial number is 567....way higher than your 354. Can't figure how they assign serials.

Only have a bit over 200 mi on mine...been too cold but suppose to get up to 50 this PM. Will put a few more on this afternoon. No oil leak yet.

Have any '14 owners done an oil change themselves? Curious about the several O rings shown for the filter.

With the first oil change coming at 3,000 miles .................. i am going to assume only one person (That feller in Florida :roflblack:) has done this so far.

Make sure they thoroughly clean the threads in the case and remove any traces of oil before they install the new set screw. Loctite does not stick if there is the slightest hint of oil. Ouse of Loctite threadlocker primer would be a good idea too, considering the circumstances.

I believe the Bulletin required the locktite thread primer.

Stock seat is too short for my 6' body (I will break out electric carving knife soon cutting rear lumbar foam off about 3", & add a Utopia backrest).
Only negative: set screw leaking oil even after re-Loctited in first 50 miles, (located under right side clutch housing aluminum casing).
BRP is overnighting new clutch cover set screw, will be installed next week (I cleaned Cat & muffler, stuffed a few polishing clothes under oil drip leak, & continue ryding).
My 2014 Spyder RT-S SE6 built Dec 20, 2013 (Friday); vin# 000354. (I believe now oil set screw has been corrected at factory, so only first batch of RT;s had the oil leak).
