• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Mirrors loose.

Brought the Spyder home yesterday and once I got it into the garage I noticed that the mirrors were loose at the pivot point. I tried to tighten them up with the torx bit but no luck they just won't tighten. Am I missing something?
Also looks like the decorative caps at the base of the mirror arms have gone Bye-Bye.

Looking at the picture, it looks like the mounting bracket is bent. Maybe try inserting a spacer, or washer for the time being, until you can get rplaced under warranty

Here's some more pics.
Why would both mirrors have the same problem?
I can't tell if they're bent without having another spyder to reference.

Max,

I have had my mirrors off to install Kewlmetel extentions. (you may want to look at those yourself) The end of the mirror has slots, and the bracket has ridges, if memory serves me correctly. Try loosening it a bit and see if you if you can't get it to sit in the postion where it falls into place, then tighten it there.

If that does not help, there is a thread where Mike slipped an internal star lock washer under that pivot point. I tried it but ended up going with the Kewlmetal mirror extentions.

If I were doing this, I'd try a nylon washer from the hardware store, first. No rust!

They kinda cheaped out on the mirrors, mine wore out quickly too. I jammed some washers on the upper side. The little nubs and divots on each surface that are suppose to lock the mirrors in place...the nubs shear off or just aren't tall enough to engage. I plan on switching to something a little smaller like bar end mirrors.

Same here .... missing one of the trim piece. Real cheap azz design. Like a last minute thought. Very flimzy piece of plastic upon close inspection.

I also got the kewlmetal mirror extensions...great modification...you still have to tighten them up a bit, but if you have shoulders, they're the way to go!

You just brought the Spyder home, brand new from the dealer? If so, I would be contacting them to see what they / BRP would do to make this right. :dontknow:

Mirror suggestion

I also had difficuty keeping the mirrors secured. I drilled and tapped a 10-24 hole a little above the arm bolt (in line with the mirror) on each arm and secured the arm using an 1/2" allen head set screw. I drilled and tapped throuth the thicker upper portion of the mounting bracket but not into the arm. The mirrors definitely do not move now but if I ever need to move the arm I can loosen the set screw, move the arm and retighten. The set screw completely recesses just below the surface of the mounting bracket and is practically invisible. I also have the mirror extensions.

Move Mirrors to Opposite sides

I'm wondering if the mirrors can be taken off and installed on the opposite sides?? When I look from the front, it would lower the mirrors some to exchange them----the wiring would have to be doctored up. When I installed the 4" risers, now my hands are right in the middle of the reflection.

Recently noticed one of my mirrors was loose. Used a torx bit in my socket set ratchet. Tightened up fine. You just can't get enough leverage with the driver supplied in the tool kit. You could try putting a spanner on the shaft of the driver.
