• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Cutting the antenna?

As the title says, I was wondering if it would be possible to cut down the OEM antenna to a more acceptable height. I don't listen to the radio at all, I only listen to Pandora through my phone or my MP3 player. I bought the Walmart shorty antenna using a stock number someone posted here before but what I got in the mail was a floppy thing that wont fit, even if I could get my OEM antenna off. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that the dealership totally stripped the antenna somehow so there is no way to get it off without taking apart the entire rear panels. Anyway, I don't know what the antenna is made of but it seems like I could cut it down to size and put a new plastic cap on the tip. Thoughts?

Cutting it down will render it useless, but if that doesn't bother you go ahead and do it. I'm not sure what you ordered from Walmart, but their Shortee is not as you describe, although it is larger diameter and requires some boot modifications. If your antenna can't be removed it would do no good to consider the Shortee anyway.

If the dealer stripped your antenna, let them fix it. It seems as if it is their problem to resolve.

Seems to me..!!

most one piece antenas are made of hardened stainless steel. Little hard to clip so sawing would work. Best would be a dremel tool with a cutting wheel. If it is striped and you don't want it have them remove it..shorty does seem best though...:dontknow:

Antennas are sized according to the wavelength of the FM signal. Most ( and I believe ours are) 1/2 the wavelength. Changing that will be detrimental to reception. That is one reason shorty's tend to be a little less robust but the are made a little different than solid ones.

I removed my antenna all together.....I installed a J&M CB and had to have the CB antenna...the stock antenna looked bad at an angle an CB straight up....so disconnected stock antenna...placed antenna wire around underneath the seat...purchased 2 spider emblems from Lamonster to cover up the hole and matching on other side...radio still works and I only have 1 antenna
