• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

New Side panels

So now the questions I keep asking myself since I own a Pure Magnesium Metallic is do I:

  1. Buy Silver Platinum Satin and call it a day.
  2. Buy Steel Black Metallic and go for some grey and black action.
  3. Buy Pearl White and attempt to get it painted to match at a local shop.

Grey and Black would look pretty sharp!

And you'd always have the option to paint at a later date too! :D

BRP should seriously consider doing a run, even a limited one, of the new panels in previous colors. At least in the 2013 colors if it helps people with heat problems.

It would be a nice option when you order, they wouldn't have to produce but a few and mention it takes extra time for special colors. That way they don't lose over producing them.

This all of course depends on their manufacturing process, I know its a major ordeal in car manufacturing to add special colors to an existing process line.

Good Idea

Just a thought/suggestion. Perhaps you could consider doing a two-tone RS-S and mixing in the new panels in a different color.

Carl

I was thinking about doing the black on my white pearl. I've looked at your pics, maybe I'll photoshop one, recolor the panels black and see how it looks. Can't wait to see how it helps to dissipate the heat in the engine compartment, cool it down. With lots of time, around $200 and some patience I reduced the heat ON the left side panels by 50% but I'm just not comfortable with all that heat in there, I'm afraid it's going to start effecting the engine components.

I know the telephone people don't really know what's going on but the one I talked to about the panels last week put me on hold to do some checking, came back and told me that a fix is under development and that I should call back in a month or so to see if it's available yet. She did not know what, when or oh much. I'm hoping for a fix but not expecting one.

I was thinking about it. It would look good with black panels since some of the parts are black already,
However; it should be black in satin to match the finish on other panels.
And here we go, back to square one.

I completely do understand your plight/struggle. :(

Let's wait a while.
Hopefully for once BRP will help us fixing their engineering mistakes.

That would be the greatest thing a manufacturer has done for anyone in a very very long while.

It would IMO really push them into the limelight of customer service and propel them forward as a great company.

Agree.

How about if they were to offer the new panels to owners of 2013 RD and ST owners at cost?
And in the colors of the 2013 bikes?
Bill,
Call BRP customer service, and let us know what they think about that idea...

Thanks Carl

I, like several others really appreciate your info, pictures and updates. I'm definitely going to do the same but if there is any truth to the BRP is working on a 2013 fix, I guess I'm going to wait it out. I'd really like to avoid getting the panels painted for my Magnesium colored one. If BRP plays this right they could have done the proverbial, "falling in a pile of $h!t and come out smelling like a rose"! They could make a lot of vocal folks very happy even if it cost us a little. Their heat problem could be their marketing Bonanza!

yours looks Great!

I wouldnt mind calling and asking, but I would need two things.

First, Carls list of exactly what we need.

Second, BRPs customer service number. lol
