• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Brightsides made in China?

Much of the Can-Am leather riding gear is made in China too, unfortunately. However it seems to be very well made... I just would rather have had it very well made in the USA or North America (I did not realize the Can-Am apparel was made in China when I ordered it... but like I said, it seems to be fairly well made as far as I can tell so far).

Few people seem to remember that back in the late 1980's thru early 1990's Walmart had a "Made in America" program going on where they actively tried to stock products made in the USA whenever they could... then they quietly phased that program out apparently in favor of the cheapest products they could possibly find period. People need to get on Walmart's case about it; Walmart could put A WHOLE LOT of Americans back to work real fast if they started stocking US (and North American) made goods again where ever possible! Too many Americans are still out of work here, it ain't right. :lecturef_smilie:

Chinese manfucaturers have killed quite a few pets in this country (and my pets are MY FAMILY!), and made quite a few people ill with toxic toys and the like. They don't have the best record on human rights, either!

Aren't those HUGE battery packs, that fill up the front of each and every Prius; manufactured in China as well? :dontknow:

Made In chin~a

I purchased some LED strips last year for my wife's Spyder. By September some of the leds were no longer working. Yep, that crap was made in China. I just bought some more LED strips on ebay from a company that makes them in the US. You can tell the different quality right away. These new ones are more pliable and the 3M tape sticks a lot better. The wires that go to the strip are thicker. Also, the price was not much more. For now on, if I can find it made in Canada or the US I will buy it and pay more. It is cheaper in the long run.

The proof is in the pudding !! :agree: Well said ! :2thumbs:

The List Goes On!

Well put Michael ! And the list of foul things from that country continue to pile up! :wrong:

When I can, I try to buy American, even if costs more. The problem here is "made in America" means what; Telodo, Ohio news, China bought a lot of the city and a deal for China to make a machine tool, but assemble it in Ohio and mark it made it America.
If the American public keeps buy the "cheapest" price, who will be left to buy whatever service/product we make.
I hope I do not get kicked off over this, but the US Army a few years ago (and may still do) bought the new black barets from china to save a few cents, but then paid lots of money to retrain and try to find jobs for the garment makes of America
I do read the labels

Speaking of the top 1%, anybody else notice those AIG commercials lately where AIG is basically patting itself on the back for having finally paid back the tax dollars it was given to keep it in business? The tax dollars which they immediately used to give their executives millions upon millions of dollars in "retention bonuses" while millions and millions of people were being laid-off and fired as the economy sank? Isn't this the same AIG that was 1 of the biggest contributors to the Great Recession, as I recall??? And now they're trying to pat themselves on the back and get the American people to buy into how wonderful they are???? :dontknow:

Anybody else ever gotten a big bonus for not quitting your job (or not getting fired)? Even after you just about crashed the world economy and ruined the lives of untold millions of people???

What am I missing here? Is there something wrong with this picture? And are people really so stupid that they'll buy these AIG commericals? (don't answer that last one!!!)

I've read most of the comments in this thread. Yes, the majority of our products are imported from China. That's a real shame. As an employee of GM for almost 30 years, you probably know what I'm going to say. There was a time when wars were productive and profitable for our manufacturers and economy. That's changed. Living in the St. Louis area, I have had many friends that have worked for McDonnell Douglas and Boeing. They are now getting most of their electronics from Japan. Granted, we have designed it, but they have the tooling to make it.

There was a time when none of our top secret parts for war vehicles could be manufactured outside of the U.S.

I digress, what I really wanted to inform/upset you all about was our own bikes. We/I always tell folks that it's not an Asian import. It's Canadian. Manufactured in Canada with the final product being assembled here in the United States, prior to sale. We have fair trade with Canada.

Our friends to the north are no better than us. Next time you pull off a panel/Tupperware, look at the inside of it. You'll see that it's 'made in China.
That really disappointed me. I don't know what all is made in China for our bikes. The panels definitely are.

At least the important parts are made in Canada, New Zealand or Gunskirchen, Austria.

It can be frustrating when you start looking closely at the items that you use and trust every day.
I remain hoeful that the Company is making the right decisions about which parts suppliers they use... :D

Although baljoints, end links, and DPS sytems spring to mind... :yikes:
