There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. NEW 2014 RT ????

I'm seriously thinking of trading my 2012 RT A/C for a new 2014 RT. But I'm probably looking at a $5000 hit in the wallet. Hoping that a dealer will have some mercy on me. Wish me luck and lots of it or talk me out of it.

personally i'm not an rt kind of guy, but i'd wait a year and see what happens with the 2014. lets hope they got it right, but it's better to be safe than sorry!! I tried!!!:2excited:

There are a lot of pros an cons on your question. Only you know how bad you want that 2014. Do you wait to see how others are going to do, or do you want to be cutting edge? Any time you have a recent vehicle to trade in--you are going to take some kind of hit. The market is going to be "flooded" with used because of all those wanting to make the change. It is a sellers market for sure when it comes to the new 2014's.

If money is a big deal, then making the move is probably not good at the current time.

2014 RT-Ltd

I picked up my 2014 RT-Ltd today. It exceeds all that I had hoped for. I did take a short demo ride on one Christmas Eve, which put me over the edge to go ahead and purchase the one that I had placed a deposit on the first part of Oct. This Spyder is definitely runs and shifts so smooth that you can't hardly feel the SE-6 transmission shift. The low end torque is great. You can actually cruise at 35 MPH in 5th gear. It is a true statement when they advertised that you could often cruise through some towns without changing gears.

You do not need the electronic switch to open the Frunk, just push in the key and turn it to the left and it will open and the engine will continue to run. This was indeed an unnecessary item. I could never remember that I wanted into the Frunk until after I had shut off the engine anyway on my 2013, so I had been using the key to open the Frunk on my 2013. There is also a quick connect line in the Frunk to connect your battery tender or charger too with out even opening the liner.

The whole Spyder seems to be of better fit and finish than the 2103's. There is very little cowl shake on rough roads or crossing railroad tracks etc.

There was no shake on the front wheels and the handling is superb. I did have the front wheels balanced and a laser alignment as part of my deal before I took possession of it. Having experienced having to do this all during the first 2,000 miles on my 2013, I would recommend this to everyone. I am lucky enough to have a great dealer that can and will provide this service and does it well.

I look forward to many miles of smiles on this new Spyder. It seems to be what many of us that use this forum, have been dreaming of.:yes:

Do you get any heat on your feet? Little, lot, none?

I actually felt none today. I keep my garage door opener & a gate opener in the glove box. On my 2013 when I pulled one out to use it, it would be very hot just to hold and use. Today, the ambient temp. today was 78 to 80 degrees with mostly cloudy skies. I never heard the fans kick on when I was stopped at a light. In fact I never saw the heat gauge even get up to the middle mark, which is where my 2013 usually stayed unless I was getting on it a little and it would go up another notch. It always had the fan kick on when I stopped either at a light or when I would pull in somewhere to stop and shut the engine off. Nothing today, not after a one hour trip home from the dealer. My speed ranged from 35MPH to 60 MPH and I never felt any heat. I think they have really fixed this problem with the moving of the radiators up front.

Depending on which model you want to trade for 5k is not bad at all. Based on local trade values I expect to pay about 13K difference + tax with my 2011 SE5 with convenience package and a good 5-10 k in X-tras I added depending on what I can keep. The 2014 is not just a new year model it is a totally different animal even thought the skin looks the same. I am going for the Limited model and they should arrive around the end of January to the first of February here in the northwest. I got a good deal when I bough my 2011 (around 23K) and if I use it as a trade I will save the tax the difference. If you wait longer it will only make the trade worth less in my opinion. There will be glut of used ones by mid year to fall and some real bargains will begin to show on the used ones. This will kill the blue book trade value as it is just the mention of the 2014's drove the price down.

Doc and I and some other great folks went on a nice ride today I have attached 2 pix both of them are doc and I on our 14s

I would wait another year. Nothing like buying a new toy and then having buyer's remorse in a few months. Is it really going to be worth losing that much money? $5k will buy a lot of gas and a lot of trips this summer. Also, if problems show up like the 2013's you will be kicking your butt and if the bikes turn out to be fantastic then next year you will have a brand spanking new 2015 and not an old hat 2014. :D

My cousin works at a Hyundai dealer and he says that so many people show up after three months and want to give back their new cars. It was the same when he worked at other dealerships as well. They call it the 'three month phenomenon'. After three months the newness wears off and they still have the payments and now they want something else.

Waiters & Doers

Those are the 2 schools of thought in almost every decision.

Really, I can't give you any dependable advise. I can only say what I would do.

Here is how I look at it. The 2014 RT is a HUGE leap forward, no comparison.

The 2012's are going to really lose value as people discover this. Sure, there is some risk that issues will show up in some 2014's. And that's exactly what you're betting on if you wait. If it turns out the 2014's are dialed in, you're going to be even further behind the 8-ball when you go to trade your 2012.

If the 2014's turn out to be a disaster, then the Waiter's are right. If the 2014's turn out to be what they appear to be, then the Doers are right. We won't know which way it will go until it's too late to take advantage of the situation.

Life is a gamble. Those that take chances tend to win bigger and lose bigger. A sure thing is usually more expensive. It just depends on which way you want to play it.

You used a Yoda quote that I use on my guys at work all the time.
Thanks for the reminder. Going to dealers Monday after work.
Thanks

Not Waiting

I fall into the "no waiting" camp. Have made a deposit on one coming in April and I think the 2014 will be a large success for BRP. We have had both scenarios happen to us with new models where some have had problems and some have been gems. I think that BRP has worked hard to make this a success. From reports here and elsewhere it is likely that the 2014's will be highly sought after and this will hurt the resale on older models.
And besides, I'm not getting any younger and I don't plan on taking any $$ with me. Life is short. Why wait :2thumbs: But every body has to do what they feel comfortable doing.

Cheers, Gary

You are absolutely right Joe. He is dreaming about the 5K. Of course I just traded a 2013 RT-L with 4500 miles for a 2014 RT-L, so you know what a "bite" I took, but after bringing it home today I do not regret it for a minute. You are going to love yours when you get it.

Although the dealer already sold my 2013 RT basic i am still trading a 2013 RT basic in for a 2014 RT-S so you know i took a big hit, up a year and up a level, but, i had a choice and made it.

I traded my 2012 Limited in for a 2013 Basic and barely took any hit at all so i guess all is good.

Wife suggested that i not discuss the 2015s with her at all LOL
