• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

nice alternative to the gps for the bike and much cheaper

Looks like a very good unit, although some reviews are not so good. Here are some of them:

It's not a good detector, it didn't give me as much warming as my old 8500 X50. Very disappointing.
I returned my IQ, I just couldn't deal with what seemed to be older GPS technology. It occasionally locked up, and sometimes the detector would keep going off after detecting radar, I had to shut it off and on again.

I had to send it back for repair 3 time. so I would suggest to wait and buy it then they are 199_249$ I think it's just a very high maintenance gps that can't do long distance driving with.. IT doesn't even come with a case. Something this fragile should have a case, the max, has a case.

:dontknow: (Just saying) :dontknow:

IQ

I own the IQ and use it in my car. My experience has been very positive. That said I cant imagine how you can use it on the Spyder---the mount would take a beating with the vibration, it isn't waterproof, it doesn't have Bluetooth and you would need to direct wire or add a front cigarette lighter socket.

After using your link I discovered your " MUCH CHEAPER " device is $500.00, my new Garmin GPS was $ 125 and even with a $ 5 waterproof cover obviously doesn't come close to $ 500,......are you using some kind of new / special kind of money that we are not aware of ? ? ?....................Spyderlover would like to know. Mike

I've got gps on mine too. My wife sets on the back with her cellphone in her hand. A smake of the right ear turn right one on the left. Well you get the idea. Lol

Well..!!

we have a garmin gps and my wife runs WAZE on her phone for all that other stuff. Waze is interactive and drivers post all traffic problems speed traps accidents etc in the areas you are in. Really helpful for avoiding traffic hassels. Can't comment on this unit but waze is free and our garmin was way less. The special ones and manufacturer offered ones are way more....;)

I'm another one of those guys that just runs a cheap $100 garmin and have never had any issues. The 40LM I have on there now has even been through some rain storms and still works like day 1.
When it dies or gets stolen I'll replace it with something similar, and not even think twice. I don't think I'd be that laid back about a $500+ gps.

I have the Garmin 660 but find myself using my iPhone map with voice commands through my Sena more and more. The phone is in the trunk and I have it hooked to the charger. I can send out a "Glympse", listen to Pandora, talk to my buddies and get map directions all through the phone at the same time. Works pretty darn good. Oh and I can make a call if I'm still lost. ;)

best gps ever

MEA CULPA

Sorry John I missed that .........................Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut can you name one thing that is MORE expensive than BRP.....:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

I have three GPSs. The Zomo that came with my Limited is a very poor unit and way over priced. I like my Tom Tom much better. Plus, when it becomes excessively outdated, throw it away and get a new one. My Tom Tom is about 7 or 8 years old and everything is still working ok and up to date enough for what I need.

CONDENSATION

There are Garmins, and there are all the rest. Basic navteq maps are not anywhere near as good as Garmin maps, and the Garmin interface is much faster and easier to use.

Also, a Garmin Zumo is waterproof, the others are not. Putting a unit in a plastic thing may make things worse due to condensation.

Yo Jay .....you only put the Garmin in the bag while it's ACTUALLY RAINING Then you take it out. When I buy potatoes they come in a plastic bag....if left in there they will rot in less than a week......so I take them out and they last three + weeks .....The Garmin will last longer tho , I promise . :roflblack: :roflblack: :roflblack:    :agree:

I thought the whole idea was to get lost when riding. darn been riding wrong for 20 some years.

Sure is. :doorag:

But when you need to get un-lost, there could be a problem. Its not cool to be a guy on a motorbike asking for directions. :D So a GPS will help you stay manly.

I use my Iphone for my GPS with a Scout app works perfect .

thinking about a radar unit that the receiver is hid and just has the small display and it also has blue tooth to link to the phone and through the Bluetooth in my helmet, detector is about the same as escort but a lot better for detection
