There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Melted Master Cylinder 2013 RT

Recall done

Had my recall done last week. Dealer had ordered like 16 or so kits so it wasn't a problem. I only have like 440 miles so far but didn't want to ride till I had the update. To much money to ruin the machine. My wife and I went out for a ride on Sunday machine ran great! It is warm but as long as I don't start my business on fire I should be good. :yikes:

Well, had the recall done over the weekend at Bradford Marine and mine was one of the Spyders that had the melted MC, (Luckily the melting was not all the way through) the dealer replaced it in about two and a half hours and all is well, they replaced the entire master cylinder and replaced the brake fluid, the Canister was not damaged. I am one of the 2013 Owners that is enjoying the Ryde, handling etc on the 13s, I know some have had problems but i am happy with mine. The main point of this post is GET THE RECALL CHECKED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

Joe, I'm glad to hear that all is well. Mine was the exact same as yours, and my dealer did the very samething as yours. I fall in your catagory with your spyder.

Hope to get out to Arkansas way one of these days.

Chris

There have been posts by a lot of people that, in my opinion, are downplaying the seriousness of the recall. I hope that every time another owner posts that their master cylinder or evap canister was actually melting that the downplayers will rethink their position and shut up with their "only two Spyders have burned blah blah blah" and realize that every Spyder has the potential to start on fire until the recall is complete.

Have a nice day.

I respectfully disagree. Every Spyder still has the potential to start on fire even after the Band-Aid recall has been completed.

Why do you think this?
Do you honestly believe that BRP's lawyers would let them pull off a half-:cus: and ineffective repair?
By performing the work; they've acknowledged the seriousness of the issue...
If the work performed didn't fix it; they have just left themselves open to all sorts of liability issues that would have folks lining up to sue them if their bikes caught fire... :yikes:

I've brought this up in another thread... I need somebody with a 2013 RT to take a look at some left side options...

Still waiting on the delivery date

You trading? I'm not... too much to loose. Maybe when the 10th Anniversary editions come out I'll trade...

Hey Joe... you didn't answer my question. Had to go thru third party resources (Harvey) to find out you've put your money down with Len.:roflblack:

Hope to get out to Arkansas way one of these days.

And Memphis is before Arkansas, you know... ;)
And Joe, maybe we don't have a casino or a luxury room... but on your trips to Tunica you know where to stop!;)

Bob, have you actually seen the fix? The excessive heat is still in there. I certainly hope the fix is enough, but only time will tell. My point is that the potential is still there. It may be lessened but not eliminated. IMHO

I'll admit that I'd like to see them address the airflow issue for our 2013 brethren... ;)
Can somebody take a look at the left hand side of their bike for me? I'm wondering if some air from that side can be re-routed by putting a block-off plate in front of the grillework.

I seriously will come se you one of these days, thank you for the invite, i think you are OK, despite what your wife says about you :roflblack::roflblack:

tell me what you are looking for and i will be happy to look, never noticed any heat from the left side. (checking my left and right hands to make sure i am correct).

Joe,
It's really strange how ideas float around in my head...
I was up at 3:00 am to check the water level in the toilet, and it got me to thinking about the ductwork on the left side of the bike... :hun:
I don't know what the 2013s have over there that needs cool air; could a block-off plate be installed in front of the grillework to make that air move into the belly of the bike? :dontknow:
Or would some fancy ductwork need to be employed?
I'm just trying to figure out how to get the air moving around up under the skirts a bit more so as to cool off the riders, and move the trapped heat rearward....
Or have I just created a nuclear bomb out of the bikes?

There is still a radiator on each side of the Spyder so i think a block off might restrict air to the left radiator?? :dontknow::dontknow:

i personally think a duct to cover the fan and flow out the bottom of the bike would help big time.i also think some kind of fan under the Tupperware facing towards the back of the bike could remove most of the heat fron under the seat, but i am not a engineer and we also have limited power output for all this power draw

I don't think both of us could eat all of our BBQ...

And as far as what she says about me... that's fine! I think I'm the only one that doesn't listen to her!:roflblack:

Oh... I thought that was just an oil cooler... I didn't know if it would be as affected by tinkering with the airflow...
Okay... Let's break out a JC Whitney catalog, and pick out a hood scoop! ;) Something that can be mounted underneath the bike's belly to pull some fresh air upward into the bowels of the beast...
I'm not about adding fans; electrical power is at a premium, and I just would rather keep it as simple as possible...

Not being the mechanical type i assumed that they both were radiators, they looked the same but even if it is an oil cooler it still needs air. I think we should put an air scoop kind of like we used on hot rods in the 70s (BIG SCOOPS)

Scoop.jpg This one might touch down a bit on speedbumps; but you'll be able to gather up enough meat to feed an army with it!
Seriously; perhaps just something that can pull some air from under the bike; without hanging low enough to cause trouble along the way...
