There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Melted Master Cylinder 2013 RT

Well, had the recall done over the weekend at Bradford Marine and mine was one of the Spyders that had the melted MC, (Luckily the melting was not all the way through) the dealer replaced it in about two and a half hours and all is well, they replaced the entire master cylinder and replaced the brake fluid, the Canister was not damaged. I am one of the 2013 Owners that is enjoying the Ryde, handling etc on the 13s, I know some have had problems but i am happy with mine. The main point of this post is GET THE RECALL CHECKED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

joe so with enough heat to melt the master cylinder you still don't feel the heat from the bike???

Joe ,
I'm sorry to hear that your bike was affected; but I'm glad that it was caught in time!
MagDave had his dealer wrap the fuel tank with insulation; have you considered doing that?
Or don't you think that it's needed? :dontknow:

There have been posts by a lot of people that, in my opinion, are downplaying the seriousness of the recall. I hope that every time another owner posts that their master cylinder or evap canister was actually melting that the downplayers will rethink their position and shut up with their "only two Spyders have burned blah blah blah" and realize that every Spyder has the potential to start on fire until the recall is complete.

Have a nice day.

I agree with you that the issue is real, the dealer said that it could have been major had i not got it checked when i did.

We have to be vigilant and try our best that none of us will get hurt. BRP have the recall and don't let any member a victim of fire. I'm afraid that someone will not as lucky as Joe. I will not play Russian rollette.:banghead::banghead::banghead: .

If you have a 13 and have not got your ride checked yet you need to. Glad to see they got yours in time Joe.

I really got a shock when the tech showed me how much of it had already melted.

My advice:

If you have a 2013, get it checked as quickly as possible.

Good news..!!

glad you got the repairs needed in time. Agree with you that all those affected by this recall should at least have their spyders looked at asap. Some may not have much time before things get worse..!! :lecturef_smilie:

Another problem here has been the ability to get the repairs done in a timely manner. Some dealers still do not have the parts for the recall. :banghead: I finally changed dealers after waiting and waiting for the recall parts from the dealer where I purchased the bike.

That is still a problem for us owners from time to time.

I am scheduled to take mine in tomorrow morning. I am kind of anxious to see if any melting has occurred. I am gonna leave mine overnight. Dealer asked me to do this so they could maybe do something additional to help alleviate the heat issue. I'm trying to be optimistic.

Good luck, i am certainly glad that i got mine done when i did, the dealer said he has already done 35 and mine was the first that had a problem, when i pressed him on the numbers he also said that most of that 35 was the bikes he had in stock and folks with very low mileage (i had 8,000)

GET IT CHECKED
